My CP’s High School doesn’t have a Cheer Team so it’s not effecting her, but I am curious how it is effecting others. Some of her friends who are suppose to go to Majors have had to decide between All Star Cheer and school cheer since UIL in Texas is conflicting. For some of them it’s been a very tough choice.

Here it is the HS cheer coaches choice. My daughter does AS and coaches HS....they work around AS schedule...but this year her HS county comp and an AS comp they go to every year both switched their dates so now who knows how on the same day going to a comp in RI and a HS comp in CT will work. Both her and her co coach compete AS along with a few of their HS girls.

We have one local all star program that we compare schedules with before either of us puts our information out. We avoid each other's competitions at all cost, and it works great. There is another all star program in a nearby town that some local kids participate with. I refuse to allow kids to be on my roster and on their team because I hate them personally. The other local high schools who have had kids attempt to do both have also had nothing but trouble with schedule conflicts between the two and that all star program having zero flexibility. That just strengthens my case against allowing my kids to participate in their all star program.

I had this happen with me last year, AIA state was the same date as Palm Springs and my assistant coach refused to cover for me. Bought a very expensive plane ticket so I could fly in, but due to weather all flights were grounded. A coach from a nearby school and the JV pom coach ended up taking care of my kids (JV pom coach since she was certified by our school, coach from another school who knew cheer and could help them through warmups), but it was a stressful and chaotic day for everybody. Honestly, I'd recommend having a plan, a backup, and a backup to the backup to ensure that things go as smoothly as possible. You never know when the weather or the people will end up flaking.
