Hi!

I was a cheerleader growing up and through high school, so what I remember most was that we were ALWAYS forgetting stuff. My daughter and I like to make little gifts for her school/dance and now her cheer friends too. These will be Christmas gifts from my daughter to her squad. My question is, should I go with the standard mini gift bags (pencils, crayons, erasers, small toys) or can I go with a little more complicated? I want to create some cheer competition survival bags, (NOT HUGE) mind you, but small make-up pouches with the essentials in it, travel hair spray, organic nail polish wipes and the like? This is my first year as a cheer mom and I'm SUPER excited. My daughter is in All-Stars, I'm not really sure what's the best thing to do because I don't want to alienate any other parents. I'm really second guessing myself.

Thanks so much for any advice!

As long as you include a gift for everyone, I can't imagine why another parent would feel alienated? In our experience there is generally a few people who give gifts to the team around the holidays so certainly a minority but they've always appreciated by my daughter! Survival bags as you've mentioned are cute (you can really never have enough makeup wipes right?) and we've also gotten personalized luggage tags, bow boxes etc.

Survival bag is great gift. I don't think any parent would react negatively to that - as long as everyone gets them. It's very welcoming I think. Hair elastics... maybe a cute little "you got this" note. Small but thoughtful. awesome

Two more questions? I have a random list of small travel size things to include, but is there anything you would specifically recommend for it? And my daughters team has a boy on it, what should I include for him, in his?

I don’t really know all the kids names yet. I was thinking the survival kits could be relatively generic. There is one boy on the team tho. He wouldn’t need Bobby pins or hair ties, any ideas what I could include in his survival kit?

hmm, I don't really know but some generic items we've received include band-aids, earplugs, breath mints, hand sanitizer.
