When Panthers hit, I feel like that routine is going to be VERY hard to beat. Although I feel like their stunts look a tad chaotic, but it's showcase so I'll let it slide.

I'm not totally feeling Cheetahs just yet. Usually I'm blown away by Cheetahs at the start of the season, but not so much right now.

Senior Elite always looks so good at the beginning of the season, but their competition always catches up to them. I feel like Senior Elite plateaus super early on. Also, I feel like when you see one Senior Elite routine, you've kind of seen them all, and this is coming from someone who is a pretty big SE fan.

Agreed on all points - I feel like Wildcats gave me the "wow" that I usually get from Cheetahs, just didn't grab my attention this year. With that being said Panthers is going to be brutal when it hits, so I'm STOKED to see how the other LAG teams keep up, because I'm sure they will.

I wish CA would stop doing kick double baskets like that (I dont know what to call it?). The first kick part is gorgeous, but then the twisting looks so messy and uncontrolled.

ETA: I really like Panthers, Cheetahs, and Wild this year. Cant wait to see what they look like after they clean up and all teams have their music

My one comment about Panthers:

The "drag race ballroom death drop" type dismount (not sure what to really call it?) from the elite is super unique -- but it's one of those elements that has the potential to look a HOT MESS if they all don't hit/catch/twist on same count.

Similar to last years "rotisserie chicken foldy leg transition" in their elite. When it hit and timing was good - awesome, cool visual.

When it didn't, not so much.

The part about the baskets is the first thing I thought when I saw cheetahs. I get they are trying innovate a new basket when they started it last year or whenever but it looks super messy.

So I've only been able to watch a handful of routines so far, but a few comments:

Cheer Athletics choreography/creativity will never cease to impress me. Also, I love how none of them gave up and fought to make at least something resembling the actual skill happen.

Lady Lux looked very good, and I wanted to keep watching, which is a big deal considering I normally get bored during NT routines.

Super impressed with Smoex this season. That routine is loaded with skill and just enough sass.
I also enjoyed panthers and lady lux. Lady lux has improved greatly, they were fun to watch.

Panthers looked awesome - can't wait to see what they'll look like in a few months once they're all cleaned up. & Wildcats' 1.5 around in that body position (pretzel/free stretch/beautiful whatever it was) had my jaw on the ground.

SE - so this was the most impressed I've been by SE in quite some time. I just wish their stunting was a little more....creative? if that's the right word? I just feel like we've been seeing the same great stunt for the last 3 years, just in a different order. Doesn't take away from the fact that it's still great though. The 2010 pyramid flashback had me smiling.

Exactly. I understand their strategy -- stick to what you're good at -- but at the same time, those athletes are clearly capable of so much more and I'm just drooling to see them pushed just a bit. I'd like to see those full-ups in the elites turned into double-ups and pulled into scorpions in profile, the way they're meant to be seen. When they face the front, it's like they're hiding them.

I mean, it's easy to play Here's What I Would Do with athletes I don't know at a gym I have no stake in, but from where I'm sitting it just seems like the girls are capable of so much more. And I really think they'll need to explore that more this year if they want to keep up with Panthers.

Oh my goodness, I thought I was the only person who wasn't a fan of "needles/scorps/etc. facing straight back."

Not picking on SE but they're the only Worlds team I have seen do this and it drives me nuts.

No sense in having the position in the routine if it faces back and no one can really see it?

Unless you're creatively attempting to hide poor/mediocre flexibility - which still makes no sense. Why not play to your strengths and choose a position that everyone does well?
