Most high school and college dance teams tend to be all-female as opposed to numerous cheerleading squads which consist of both males and females. Thoughts?

Kinda rare. Every once in awhile I’ll see an HS team with a lone boy, but not very often. Our dance team had a boy briefly one year until he quit, we suspect because the choreo was a little feminine for him.

Most boy dancers we have at school are in the hip-hop club or something similar. Non-competitive and just for fun. No interest really in competitive formal dance training.

I don't know much about college or high school dance but I have seen quite a few coed dance teams from studio/competitive teams, especially in hip hop.

I agree, I typically see more guys doing hip-hop.

Our local hockey team had a guy on their dance squad but he didn't last too long from what I understand. Their costumes and choreography were very feminine and I know then they didn't make much effort to incorporate him though. :\

Also, at least here, guys who want to dance can get scholarships to studios quite easily, especially ones that do a nutcracker at Christmas and need guys for partnering. Since school dance teams cost about the same as school cheer, it may be a reduction in cost for the girls who have been training at dance studios, but it would be an increase in cost for the guys.
