And Lady Lux with grand champs. Love to see a NT team bring it like that.
I don’t believe there are “Grand Champions” at Cheersport because Worlds Teams compete in two different halls with two different judging panels.

Which is why Cheersport only award Worlds bids on the Monday evening following the event, because they need time to deliberate and not just base it off scores.

Someone tell me how, on God's green earth, did SE not only have one of the highest day 2 scores, but their raw score was higher on day 2 than on day 1 with missed pyramid skills and a major stunt bobble? I don't get it.

Did they have the same panel both days? I was surprised too. When CU edited what mistakes Orange had, I really though they were gonna take it.

P.S. I did say previously that my ‘predictions were spot on’ blah blah. That was before I saw the tweet that they reviewed Orange’s routine.

I think with Orange having the tumble touch and then the two groups missing almost half the elite sequence, the placements were right. But I definitely don't agree with SE's raw going up.

I feel like with any 2-day competitions, 2nd day raw scores are ALWAYS higher. Unless teams have a major meltdown, it will always be higher, you will see it at NCA and UCA too, I guarantee it.

That’s why I feel “floating weightage” is such a joke because the 2nd day is almost always ends up being the 75%.

Eventhough they weren’t counted as falls (good on the bases for catching the flyers in a controlled manner), the two stunts missed a significant portion of their elite stunt sequence... it definitely hurt their score.

I felt like the judging was weird overall. CP’s team went from 10th to 5th place with pretty much the same hit routine. Teams they beat before were now ahead and the other way around too. Looking at other results, quite often placements changed even when everyone hit both days. And yes raw scores high on day 2.

Radom thoughts:

1. I just saw that newly small Coed Elite came in third, not bad for a brand new division.
2. Super Seniors won in their new division as well.
2. Some of these scores were SO CLOSE between top 2 placements (e.g. LL & SSX.) NCA is going to be super interesting.
3. If you have a chance to watch any J6 teams (ex: Colonels, Cell, Crush, Green, Fire, etc.) definitely check out some videos. I find the J6 routines to be more creative than Worlds at times.

So now that I’ve watched both SE and Orange in detail, I’ve come away with the conclusion that both teams are coming at their performances with very different approaches, but neither one is working for either team 100%.

SE attacks that routine. They know and believe they can win. They look strong and confident. On the other hand, this confidence might be what is costing them deductions if it’s leading to complacency. Which at their level, is the only thing I can think of that’s messing with them because obviously they’re capable of hitting.

Orange is more reticent in their approach. They do not have the energy or presence that SE does. They look uncertain. I’m sure they know cognitively that they can win, but they don’t look like they believe it yet. This lack of confidence might be costing them deductions just like the overconfidence is over on SE.

Too confident and not confident enough.

Overall, I’m going to give it to SE over Orange come Worlds. I think they’re hungrier for it. Plus that routine is — stunning — when it hits.

I think people forget that if Orange is being typical clean Orange, their technique is >>> and they will usually take the win. Usually.
yep. Orange has learned very well that they dont need to do anything over the top in order to win, execution almost always tops show factor. But large senior teams have always been able to figure out how to do both, which is why large is so hard to predict and win back to back.
i struggle with SE though some years im obsessed with their routines, and others im bored/have seen it before... Ive never been bored by a WCSS or panther routine. There is something choreography wise that those two teams do right every single year.

Last thoughts: F5 is really not operating on the same level as SE and Orange, unfortunately. The strategy looks a little all over the place. For example, I can't tell if the tumbling is there or not because of how it's organized. Also, I feel like they had a way bigger stunt planned for that VERY pregnant pause in the music instead of the low/high tick, namely because they already superseded it with the more difficult low/high stretch right at the beginning. So unless something bigger is going in there eventually, I'm not sure why they chose to highlight it so significantly.

And lastly, there is a giant portion of the pyramid where nothing is happening. Which, as the coach of a SL team, I'm very sensitive to. I hate to have absolutely NOBODY in the air during a pyramid, especially if you've got 7+ stunt groups to work with. Get a girl in a half and have her shimmy while the stunts are building if you have to. Just do something.

I know F5 has won Worlds a handful of times, albeit not super recently. I'd be very interested to know if they had coaching turnover since then. It appears to me that this team suffers from the same fatal flaw that so many other teams do: talented girls, inefficient choreo (coaching).
