Can anyone explain to me specifically why Orange has the better routine over SE? Because I just can’t see it.

It’s probably my affection for them that’s clouding my judgement, but it just seems to me that their routine is superior. Yes, Orange’s elites are more difficult, but SE’s tumbling is more synchronised, their single-braced flips are practically mirror images of each other, and their pyramid is better. Not to mention the confidence those kids perform with. They have the edge, in my mind. And yet the raws say otherwise.

What am I missing?

The elite is more difficult. Also their second stunt. Remember, SE goes straight up to tick tock I'm pretty sure and just pops back down. The only person pulling more than one body position is center. Also Orange plays the quantity of tumbling game + execution very well. I also think Orange goes jump to tuck and not 2 jumps. Not to take anything from SE because they HAVE improved difficulty of running tumbling from last season.

A lot of those things above are equal in the scoresheet but Orange executes better in 90% situations and that is what matters. SE has improved their consistency significantly since like 3 seasons ago which is what makes this interesting.

Interesting but I don’t think one World’s team means the entire program is strong. How many of the athletes work their way up in the program vs. move to a gym for a team. Some gyms may not dominate the world’s divisions but may still be very successful in all divisions. For example, World Cup isn’t as successful in any other division as LAG. I think we have also seen that satellite gyms of big name gyms aren’t always as successful either so I’m not sure how I feel about the list.

Yeah it's by no means comprehensive. I wish they included info about how many franchises a gym has, how long they've been in business, athlete retention every year, etc. But it offers a different perspective.

These themes keep getting stranger.

Dallas Cowboys from a team in Oklahoma (I know they're adjacent states), and then a TMNT theme??

STOP THE THEMES.

I like themes because I think they show an extra level of thoughtfulness/creativity in a routine. However, I cheered when a theme meant something because you had to sit down and actually put thought into your song choice rather than stringing a bunch of upbeat stuff together. Now that you can pretty much pay for your own lyrics, it doesn't mean as much. But overall I like them.

That said, they have been getting out of hand lately. Themes are hard. They really do require some thought if they’re going to make sense. The best ones I’ve seen 1) always tie into cheer, 2) incorporate the school/program name, mascot, location, etc. You can’t just pick the name of a terrible movie and run with it.

All of this, I also think Panthers beats SE in just about every category, they just cant hit. SEs building is pretty basic this season, especially compared to the rest of large senior. They really only keep winning because nobody else is hitting, they definitely don't have the strongest routine.

I always feel people say, “Scores are so close!! Worlds is going to be interesting.”

Then, come Worlds, it’s a different story. Not only is the scoring scale 50% more, but comparative scoring can really punish or reward teams.

I suppose one silver lining about having 50 new divisions is that each division is smaller now, so comparative scoring can deliver more accurate results especially when it comes to narrowing down number of teams for finals.

It must hurt when team X, that goes earlier, scores less than a point behind team Y, that goes much later, which is enough to push team X out of the finals.

Yeah i can only see SE taking it if orange and panthers have mistakes. Im no expert when it comes to score sheets but i feel like stunt wise they are still behind panthers. Execution they are behind orange, tumbling no clue.
This is all of course based off if orange and panthers hit.

I forgot to mention in my post above that both Orange and Panther's first stunts (not elite) are 2 man stunts. That is impressive.

I can't think of a time in recent memory that SE has attempted 2 man stunts?

Not to mention... Orange’s 2-man is the same as senior elite’s second stunt. And Panther’s 2-man is 360 switch ups, which senior elite does as part of their elite stunt.

Senior Elite’s been doing great this year, but I think Orange, Panthers, and Stars (I’m biased) have them beat in difficulty they just need to hit.

I also think Stars beats them in difficulty, but I think SE beats Stars in execution. Though Stars are a lot cleaner than they used to be.
