This is good! It would also make sense to raise youth to 12 and mini to 9. Then it would be 3 years in between each max age.
Hush your mouth about moving mini to 9! CP is finally aging out of it this year. [emoji23]

I realize the bottom age is same now but I don't see the need for 6.7 or even 8 year olds to be on a junior team, particularly the spread between 6-15 is just too broad imo.

To put in perspective, that's Kindergarteners on teams with someone who is a freshman or sophomore in HS.

I can see some gyms viewing this as an advantage because you can pull in some littles to fly on basically early high school aged stunt groups.

At my CP’s first gym she was 8(2nd grade) on a junior 2 team and yes there were freshman on the team, but the gym only had two teams; a junior 2 and a senior 3 and only about 35 athletes. I really think most gyms would rather put youth age kids together, but there are always going to be times where that younger flyer is going to go to a junior team, and for small gyms there often isn’t a choice. At least there are higher age restrictions for junior 4 and 5,

I can't think of a single activity in the past 17 years raising kids whether it be softball, an art class, tennis lessons, cooking class, music lessons etc etc. where 1, they would have offered to combine those ages and 2, if they had offered I would have said "cool, my kids would love that". Nope.

I get that but don't think raising the junior age without also raising the bottom is a step forward. Also, not sure if your experience was before or after the D2 split but other teams there would have been in the same position. I could maybe, possibly a waiver for start up programs 35 athletes and under but not sure...

They go through the effort to revise the grid - and I am not even quibbling about senior age - but that 6-15 could have been addressed as well. I think it is fair if everyone is eligible for two teams:
- 6,7,8 (not sure about 8 but at least 6,7) could be mini or youth
-9,10,11 (and I would have added 12) could be youth or junior
-13, 14, 15 junior or senior
-14+senior or open

Lol. And my CP is happy about aging out of youth so she would be pissed if youth was raised to 12. Sorry but it just makes sense! These would be my max ages:

Tiny 6
Mini 9 (currently 8)
Youth 12 (currently 11)
Junior 15 (currently 14)
Senior 18

Now how can anyone even argue with this logic? Just put me in charge. :D

If they are using different minimum ages per level, why not use different max ages per level as well? Perhaps something to the effect of :

Junior 1-3 6-13
Junior 4 8-14
Junior 5 9-15

It does make sense, I just want out of mini lol.

I agree with everyone that the bottom age for junior should be higher. CP's gym at least will usually put kids in the lowest age group unless they are higher level, even then that would usually just mean a tiny or mini on youth 3.

If this holds true (nothing is official yet), then the junior age grid is an epic fail. Kids as old as 16 can be on junior. Someone said "great, my kid can drive through the kindergarten car line and pick up her teammate from school and bring her to practice" and this statement alone shows that something is glaringly wrong with that age gap.
Given the ridiculous amount of divisions offered there's no reason why any age should be eligible for more than 2 divisions.
