I’m still wondering how we will move forward with stunting and if 2nd wave hits what kind of season will we have. I think situation is too fluid to even worry about summit.

We are too divided as a nation, there’s no strategy in place to combat this virus. It frightens me.

I know. I think this season will be very unusual. Some states have very low infection numbers and will be opening up much sooner. I’m in NJ- we will be lucky if we are opened in September. I feel like if we do get back to the gym maybe this year is a local only season (high school gym type comps). I don’t think we could be competitive against programs who are opening now.

I find it more frightening the way they are counting COVID19 deaths which makes it seem more deadly than it is. This is Dr. Ezike from the National Institute of Health explaining to the press on how they count COVID19 deaths (note that 90% of all deaths so far are people documented over the age of 60 with pre-existing conditions and almost all deaths under 60 had pre-existing conditions):

I see gyms forcing families to attend as many of these “regional” summits as possible in addition to chasing a “big summit” bid. If there is no progression (as in, you must medal at a regional to advance to “big summit”), it is pointless, at least for the Jr and Sr teams. You will just have gyms choosing to travel to multiple regionals every weekend in April/May instead of their regularly scheduled competitions - which is likely what Varsity is counting on.
You cannot compete at a Regional Summit and the Orlando Summit. It's also my understanding that you can only compete at 1 regional summit, so no, teams won't be attending as many regional summits as possible.

Have you seen documentation regarding this? You’re the first person I’ve seen state that you can’t compete at both. I can’t find anything on the Varsity website.

This just makes it more difficult for gyms to make plans for the season, now they have to decide which teams to make regional and which teams to make national? They wouldn’t be able to plan definitively without knowing which lead-up competitions will offer bids to which level of Summit so they would need to decide early on. Which also means they can’t tell parents an upfront cost for the season until they’ve already committed, which will mean many families won’t be able to commit.

I like the regional/national concept but it should be a progressive advancement instead of just having a bazillion team madhouse at big Summit. So basically make regionals a large wildcard round then those who advance go to Orlando.
