@catlady question for you. Are most or all those businesses insured?
Another question the rest you’re more concerned for material Items than a human life? Taking a knee is ani American now? Hum thought it was a peaceful protest. Not one of you mentioned Mr Floyd’s name but sure as hell brought up the destruction of buildings and business. So instead of saying it’s horrible and wrong that a black man was killed but you need stop destroying business. You all should/need to say I know it’s horrible that business are being destroyed but you all should stop killing black men. Check your priorities . If I get hate than so be it.

I'm not going to pass on hate, we don't know each other, nor our hearts. I will very humbly and with sadness use your words, "I know it's horrible that businesses are being destroyed, but we need to stop killing black men." Much love and hugs.

ETA: I didn't answer your question about the buildings and insurance. I'm sure they're insured, but insurance companies will try to fight these as acts of terrorism. I cringed when Trump said they were, for the reason most policies exclude "War and Terrorism." I hope these insurance companies will pay out quickly and I hope these business owners will choose to rebuild in these cities.

Alot small businesses won’t survive especially after being closed for 2/3 months

i dont quite understand the meaning behind why people shouldnt be offended if things get destroyed, and that apparently its offensive to be offended over a business burning down more or as much as someone being killed. Why cant i be saddened by both??
when you destroy small businesses your destroying someone's livelihood, possibly the roof over the head, the food they put on the table, etc. why should people be told not to feel for those individuals.

Also side note on a medical standpoint ill be curious to know how many people exposed themselves to covid19 considering the large amount of large gatherings across the US.

I'm definitely saddened by both. With that said, I 100% know I play the devil's advocate and will argue relentlessly when it comes to business and Varsity.....BUT, when people are hurting, sad or angry, I feel just as strongly about letting them express their feelings and acknowledging their pain. People just need to remember we don't have to agree on every detail, but there's always opportunity to listen and acknowledge we can do better.

On COVID19, I'm not sure I can handle anymore bad news. I'm looking forward to going back to normal, just a more kind, patient, appreciative kind of normal. We're going to be okay, everything needs a reboot occasionally. <3

This is one of those situations where we can mourn both. We can lament the murder of unarmed POC and the destruction of property. However, it’s when people appear to be more upset over property damage than loss of life that rubs others the wrong way.

I don’t think anyone here is condoning the looting/theft/etc. that is coming on the wake of the protests. Even the protesters denounce such activity because 1) it’s wrong, and 2) it’s a bad look for their cause. So we don’t have to embrace one issue over the other. We can decry both.

I just personally try to focus on the positives at this time: we are finally seeing some demands for societal, governmental, cultural change from people of all kinds. It’s uncomfortable, but it’s necessary. And I just hope against hope this motivates people to vote in a few months.

I know I could just shimmy this, but it’s so well said, I have to reply.

Thankfully in my hometown the protests have remained peaceful. I wish I could say the same about the protests in Miami Beach( not as bad as in some areas, but still.) What is getting to me though is that a lot of POC in my hometown are mad that white people are joining in on the protests. As a young biracial woman isn’t that what should be happening? You know, support form all ethnicities?

Personally I think that there has been a lot of media released clips of white looters starting violence and stories of white supremacist infiltrating the protest. I think this has created some mistrust which make people hesitant. It is truly awful because white allies are really important to furthering our cause and unity is needed but there is much confusion about what’s happening on the ground right now.

Similar but different topic. I k ow for years there has been issues with the lack of diversity and lack of gym responses towards there cheerleaders racial insensitivity social media post throughout the years. Top Gun just posted a really good video on their Instagram channel. It’s raw and emotional but kudos to them for always stepping up and setting a standard that I hope more gyms will follow.

I think we can also mourn for the people killed, but I also believe that we need to remember not all cops are bad guys. There are so truly amazing cops out there that love their job, are great at it, and that work hard, and are great people. I definitely support blue lives matter so ik I might get hate for that, but I come from a family where a lot of my family members are police, so I know there are bad apples out there, but there are also some truly amazing cops. It comes down to the system to weed out the bad apples, and that is where our problems lie right now. I just don't want people to forget so many cops are great people. Do not let a few bad apples ruin the bunch.
