So glad you have the choice not to attend.
Yes absolutely, if they make it clear they are not following the 6 foot rule we wont. I was under the impression the convention centers were all following these protocols for safety but I guess I was wrong.

And actually, I am fairly stunned that at this point in the pandemic anyone would stand in the middle of the crowd and feel ok but sure to each their own.

Did you watch? They are related to the athletes not each other so distancing rules still should apply. There was a crowd with no separation.

And btw, I don't bring it up to dump on the event at all. Watching last night was the first time my house felt normal in a year. But if I am attending an event in person and they say they will follow protocol then I expect them too. I didn't see that last night and hope it gets tighter by the time we actually hit the road.
I was referencing your comment about the crowd and that there wasn’t a crowd.

There was plenty of space in the back for those who want to keep distance. I didn’t mind standing fairly close to people (with masks) for 2.5 mins so I was at the front for CP’s team.

You only got to watch your own team, then leave. Before, there were different holding areas to move through. It was good.

Even I was a sceptic on what was going to happen at this event. However the protocols in place have made us feel safe.

The parent viewing area was increased from 20ft to 50ft. There is no spectator viewing, just priority/parent viewing. Sister teams aren't even allowed in to watch and cheer on them on. They have police officers monitoring and making sure people are following the guidelines. We are not allowed to linger in the hallways. masks are mandatory. Bags are checked and temperatures are taken at every door. The only time my daughter and I don't feel safe is outside when people think they can take off their masks.

So I have some concerns about Cheersport now with the changes that Spirit of Hope has taken.

Is there anyone that has booked for Cheersport? And if so, did you guys see weird cancellation policies?

What I'm more concerned about is Cheersport moving or becoming virtual and all these Stay and Play hotels. We received emails saying that hotels were nonrefundable and we had to pay in full upfront. The lesser of the two options in hotels will have a fee of $99 after the 18th. If Cheersport pulls what SOH and moves or cancels a week before the competition we'll have a lot of mad parents.

This is yet another reason why stay to play needs to go

Im in England working for the NHS and it is crazy . Medical and nursing staff are being redeployed to ICU.
student nurses asked to do paid placments
In the UK nurses are licensed to work within their field e.g im a RN child therefore normally only look after patients up to 18yrs but now exemptions have been made by the NMC (our licensing board) for people to work with adults.
Its a scary time and quite shocked that US is having live comps as I dont think this will happen this season in the UK

I wish I could rate this “sad face”.

I wish we could even do virtual.....please pray for Ct gyms and athletes as the governor will decide tomorrow if we can continue this season as planned.

We went to our first live comp on Sunday. It was not a Varsity comp so they did their own option. They had it split up by gym, large gyms like CP's had a few different blocks. They were enforcing masks, but were not enforcing entering the venue only 15 minutes before your block or any social distancing that I saw. They were not sanitizing anything in between gyms or teams except for vomit, of course.

There were no seats and just the priority viewing, and you could see the stage from the vendor area. Personally I don't think they should have had vendors. I was able to stay 6 feet away from people most of the time, except when in priority viewing for CP's team and when our block was over and six teams were trying to leave with other gyms coming in at the same time.

This was in our brand new convention center which is only exhibit halls. I feel like if our older convention center was still open, which had a stadium, the social distancing would've been better.

Overall, it was nice to see them compete, especially watch them hit zero when they've had some struggles. For being in Oklahoma, the enforcement of social distancing is about what I expected. I hate it here lol.

US Covid ICU nurse here. It is so surreal to watch teams competing and practicing (looking at you WE) without masks. Absolutely bonkers. I will never look at some gyms the same way again. Our healthcare system is at its breaking point and NCA is planning a comp with >1300 teams.

it’s mind boggling.

Okay, I have not said one word about this whole covid thing but I just wanted to say I agree with you 100%! If I was a gym owner, I would never compete at NCA while there is a pandemic, I'm sorry but why is a "National Champion" jacket worth getting sick over at some gyms during this time? I don't even know why they didn't have a cut off of the number of teams competing there. They should have cut the number of teams at least 1/3 the amount. It is clearly one of the biggest competitions out there, I was surprised so many teams signed up for it during a pandemic. I am surprised a lot of gyms are competing at all of these large competitions, it is MIND BOGGLING!! There are obviously going to be issues at Cheersport and NCA. On top of that, people are choosing not to wear masks, it's not cute, it's 100% unprofessional.

I am still very wary about Cheersport because it's going to be taking place in a "hospital" where there are going to be patients WITH the virus, what the actual hell is going on with Varsity? They preach safety, but this is one of the least safe things they are choosing to do and they have not said a word about it.

I'm confused. Are you going to be at Cheersport?
