Weird but I feel like "floor equity" can become a scoring issue in some of these virtual comps.

Example: CA Plano has 6 floors on which the entire pereformance can be seen clearly no problem.

However, I watched a routine during a Varsity virtual comp in which the performance floor had a pole that was somewhat blocking view of a stunt group. Then another gym was filming at such an angle that the corners were somewhat non-visible so you couldn't always see landings. I think the space was so small that they could just barely get it all in the shot.

Do comps deduct for these things? I mean those are awkward and probably hard to judge, but I would hate to see a gym deducted for something they don't necessarily have control over.

See also: I can't imagine how challenging this is for the gyms with one floor, multiple teams, practices to work around, etc.

I'm sure for many it becomes very much a typical comp experience (ex: athletes have to come performance ready at this time, one take and done, exit afterward.)

We are a small gym. 4 full year teams and 4 prep teams. 1 full size spring floor. Filming has to take place on the weekends to. It interfere with team practices. But if we had more teams even that would be an issue.

We have a pole at the edge of our floor and it is SO ANNOYING for virtual comps. You cant always see parts of the routine and its frustrating cause there all over our gym, so no matter what angle we film from it will be there

I watched the Worlds teams the first night. There was one team that had athletes going out of the frame often. Hard to score what is not in the frame. I think if virtual comps become more common, then gyms will figure out how to get better at the filming part of it.

NCA Nationals has in their packet for filming that if skills are blocked or off camera in any way, they will not be scored. Not sure what the ruling is for other comps.

CA Plano has 6 "main" oversized spring floors and an additional non-spring-floor full mat in another room. (Technically, there is just 1 giant spring floor with different color mats making 6+ performance areas.)

It’s a beautiful facility. Our old gym had the chance to practice there before NCA years ago. Our girls were in total heaven and us coaches were in awe.

I actually really like cheer match. I also really like the fact that i can still find video with sound hours later too. Moral of the story I hope cheer match sticks around.

In other news Flocheer copyrighting a cheer match video earlier today.... Phew

Does anyone know where we can view scores? I have only seen scores for BSB.

Nevermind, I found them.

I don't see the scores posted yet. They've been so good about posting the scores for their regular weekly competitions minutes after each event. The Worlds match was different with a different scoresheet so maybe they're trying to figure out where to post the results since they don't get added to their normal Leaderboard. But hopefully they do post them somewhere. I know everyone has different feelings about CheerUpdates, but they are the ones who kept people informed about the results of this competition if they weren't able to watch live.

It was great to have an event exclusively for Worlds teams and I really enjoyed it. I'm glad that so many of the top teams in the country had a chance to compete and showcase themselves.

ehh theres at least 3 other cheer twitters i follow that post scores and up to date stuff during actual competitions, he is slowly becoming more un necessary in my eyes. And the other accounts arent dramatic and rude, so there's that plus. I have happily survived 2 seasons now being banned by CU. :enjoyshow:

That's what the Varsity stance has been ("we can't judge what we don't see happen"--totally fair, lol) for the two virtual events we've done. We have a 7 panel floor, with two beams at the front. we had to take a little bit of time/trial & error to determine where the best range of video would be from, and where the camera would block off and tape it off, and just tweak routines/directions to ensure nothing went out of frame. It was annoying, but definitely not the end of the world, and didn't really change a whole lot.

Love SOT! My CP had a wonderful experience there. Awesome Coaches and staff. Their gym does have poles that partially block viewing. I wonder how that will affect their NCA videos.

We have same with the poles and I feel as if you can see what happens even if they briefly go behind a pole. To me that is different than when some stunts groups were out of frame or corner tumbling and you didn't see them land. But I'm not a judge, lol. Will be interesting to see.

On another note, I am getting the sense that for NCA we will most likely see a hitfest. Maybe it is just the social media I follow or friends we have at other gyms, but it appears many are taping until a hit I really appreciate the authenticity of competition with Cheermatch, two tries and you're done.

Editing to add: not sure what is going on with TX gyms and how they are taping. Wising them the best
