Most teams say it for timing purposes. When you say hit you should be at the highest point of your jump and when you say pull... well I think that's obvious. but it also pumps you up to stick the skill I think.

I feel like when the entire arena joins in on the 'hit, hit, hit, PULL! thing, it brings a sense of 'unity' among all the fans, regardless of who they are rooting for. I think that is probably why I like it! LOL....

I think it really pushes and motivates cheerleaders to hit their jumps and pull on their tuck. I dont go to Worlds but if I did then it would push me and motivate me.

Yes, I agree! :)

I think it really does help, but I agree, it can get pretty obnoxious after a few teams.

this just started in Canada so I'm not sick of it
before this year I NEVER heard it a competition this year I'm at provincials and everyone's saying it I'm like WOAH
but yeahh I like it !

It might have just been me, but I could swear there were more people than usual joining in on the hit,...PULL chant this weekend....Haha - Like I said, I have always liked it, and even I started having my eyes glaze over from the repetitiveness of it team after team, lol...You poor people who didn't like it to begin with must have been ready to strangle someone by the end of the weekend....lol

there were a lot of people doing it

its fine when people have lame music
but i know a lot of teams that have great voice overs for jumps. and i hate that people will sing the whole music except for hit hit pull, splat (what i like to say when they dont land)

also for the international teams that did handsprings i liked to say hit hit push. lol. little things crack me up.

and at least i got to get up and walk around.
the judges had to listen to that for 14.5 hours on Saturday. haha

I think saying hit hit hit pull, really motivates you. when i hear others yelling for my team it just makes me alot more confident. but i agree it gets obnoxious when you hear it ALL the time.
