I was inspired to ask this questions reading an article on Spirit Post. What are peoples top 3 things that need to be improved upon or moved upon in cheerleading?

Universal scoresheets?

Age limit changes? (ceilings and floors)

Trying to get into the Olympics?

What do you all think?

Consistent rule enforcement

My top 2, subject to change based on what others say:
1. The number of divisions. This is supposed to be competitive cheerleading, but teams frequently have little competition at events.
2. The complexity of the performance rules. There has to be a way to simplify them so more people understand them.

1. Judging -- consistency, true knowledge of scoresheet, proper training, etc.
2. Transparency -- access to all scores of all teams in a division to coaches.
3. Athlete Credentialing -- prevention of cheating.

1. Crossover limits - this needs to be done to move the sport forward. I like what NCA did this year.

2. Athlete credentialing - this will prevent cheating and also can be used for the crossover limits

3. Universal Scoring - should be the same at every event

4. Limiting age movement - mini or youth age girls should not be on senior teams. should limit age group moves to one above your current. example: youth age can move to junior but not to senior.

For me it is accountability across the board from, events, judges, gyms, athletes and parents. Until everyone one takes on some of the responsibility we will never be recognized seriously.

I think some people are using the term Athlete Credentialing different than I do. I think of Athlete Credentialing as checking to see if they've made the proper progressions through tumbling, jumps, tosses, etc. resulting in being credentialed to Level 1, 2, 5, etc. I think of Athlete IDs when I think of ways to prevent cheating and limiting crossovers. Do I need to change my terminology?

Maybe I should say Athlete I.D.'s. Basically I want every athlete to have an ID card that states their name, DOB, what gym they cheer for and any other information that would be able to help track and identify cheating. I say credentialing because that to me means they have been "cleared" or "have been given permission" to compete as a USASF member athlete.

Yes, athlete credentialing should cover ALL those areas. Now how do we get it done?

Safety...appropropriate emergency response at gyms and competitions. (That's for you RJ!)
