Hey, so me and my friend are trying to decide which cheerleading colleges we want to apply to. Any suggestions? We want to be on an All Girl team that goes to Nationals, and possibly have cheerleading scholarships.

you should really read this:
http://fierceboard.com/showthread.php?246-Competitive-College-Cheerleading-Guide

it's pretty hard to give suggestions to a vague question.. without knowing what kind of school you'd like to go to, around where, what your skill level is, etc. it could be tough to get the right answers.

and just FYI - not many schools give cheerleading scholarships. Very few in fact. Usually you may get a book scholarship or something small.. the exception is a tuition scholarship or room&board (or something on a large scale)

They dont give out cheerleading scholerships, i dont think, but Slipery Rock is a good cheerleading collage, but it is coed. That is where I am going. I think that they go to nationals, i will ask my friend and i will let u kno.

Please think about your educaton as well!! Sure, cheerleading is wonderful and adds to the college experience.......but, your education should be a priority!! HPU does give out tution scholarships.......I beleive that is the only school that gives the most (UH does as well but not as many as HPU). Good luck.....this is an exciting time for you....all the best.

There are tonssss of schoiols That have all girl teams can you give us a little more info on where You want to go or what you're looking for

Maryland just won all girl NCA nationals and was one of the first schools to start offering scholarships for competitive cheer. I'm not 100% sure but I think every girl on the team has a scholarship.

The University of West Georgia is one of the top all girl teams in Division 2 at UCA every year. Where are you located now and what region would you possibly be looking at for college?

My understanding is not ALL of them are on scholarships. I'm not exactly sure how many are on scholarships though. Maryland Comp Cheer is a sanctioned NCAA sport (at Maryland); therefore they are fully student-athletes. Last I heard they weren't allowed to fundraise, and while they can't go to camp in the summer, the actual team members don't have to pay or fundraise for anything. Comp Cheer at UMCP is recognized as student-athletes just as much as the Football or Basketball team is.

if your looking to get a scholarship/ full ride university of kentucky blue squad and hpu are the only true teams that give full rides

sry not answeing the question, but do all members of kentucky blue receive partial/FULL scholarships?! I had no idea!

Think about your education 1st, cheerleading 2nd. Decide what direction you want to go, and then look at schools with strong programs and decide what you can afford. THEN, maybe narrow down your list by strong cheer schools. That is a much better policy than blindly picking a school because of strong cheer programs.

i did this completely opposite to be honest. i did what everyone says not to do. i chose U. of Louisville completely because of cheer. my other options were HPU, Kennesaw, Maryland, Memphis, Clemson, and U of S. Carolina, all because of cheer. I knew each place was a good school. I had absolutely NO IDEA what i wanted to do with my life at 17 when i picked my school (UofL) but i knew the school had good programs, i knew each school had good programs. Im about to turn 21 and be a senior and im just now deciding what to do with my life and start my major. (exercise science major, i would love to be a conditioning coach for university athletics but we will see what happens) but i just want to say im completely content with my decision and im glad i did what i did. what ever decision someone makes, dont let this board influence you, but let it give you insight....do what will make you happy academically and or physically....

The blue squad I believes get about 8 grand but to attend the school along with room and board and meals you are looking at about 28 grand. Awesome school though but there is no full ride at UK
