i think my favorite part about this (if it happened) would be the fact that they could all fit in the milkhouse:DDDD

I like this idea for the club divisions. But I would HATE to see the international divisions go. ESPECIALLY int coed 5. Which IMO was one of the most competitive divisions at worlds and continues to grow, as well as int all girl.

The problem with Int Coed 5 is that it wasn't intended to be a heavily competitive club division. Instead meant so the international teams would have a place to live and thrive.

Until we all start playing by the same rules (meaning other countries) how will the 'eventually' catch up? It reminds me of a Simpsons episode where Bart is put in a special class because he is struggling in school. And he asks the question: 'So, let me get this straight. We are gonna catch up to the rest of the school by going slower?'

So, I am going to modify my idea a bit, and you all tell me what you think.

Club level (so 18 and younger)
Small Senior (20)
Small Small (20 plus 5 boys max)
Large Senior (36)
Large Coed (the 36 plus 12 max boys)

Open Level (meaning graduated from high school in theory. We will say 17 and up so there is no athlete that would be exempt for a year)
AG 5 (20)
AG 6 (20)
Coed 5 ( 20 max 10 boys)
Coed 6 ( 20 max 10 boys)

Now the college programs have a place to compete. You cant use 14 year olds for an unfair advantage.

What do you all think now?

I like this much better. Especially the 17 and up for the open level. I'd rather a 14 year old not be a on a team with 25 year olds. it's a little awkward. 17 isn't so bad. I don't think we have any 14 year old on our international team. We haven't actually started practices though, so I could be wrong. I like the idea of only having 4 club teams and 4 open teams. Makes it much more exciting! :)

I have never liked the 14 and up rule. It's just... weird.

And the numbers will encourage college participation. I think that is huge. One of the reasons the judge said we couldnt be a sport is there is not enough competition. Well, this would allow for colleges to easily transition from one to the other (without having to change the routine).

I also am a HUGE fan of the new Varsity scoresheet for level 6. I think it finally rewards correctly for level 6. Since Baskets, Stunts, and Pyramids are the only level 6 skills, there is a solid point higher in those categories so you can't out tumble the division (but tumbling and jumps still gets rewarded).

Now just have to get Worlds to adpot the Varsity scoresheet. Think anyone from Varsity can talk to the USASF about that? I heard its not a far trip.

I think the 14 and up rule came from an attempt to match other international competitions.

I know, but to encourage international standardization we either need to modify how we do ages (not gonna happen) or make the international conform to our standardization

i can't see it being justifiable to raise the bottom age on the open/international divisions at this point, since those are the divisions where teams from out of the US can be competitive at this point. if the bottom age is 17, it keeps out the majority of 'high school' aged kids from other countries.

the other countries would be allowed to enter the club divisions. actually, i dont think there is anythign stopping them now from entering those divisions.

The US always wanting people to be like us... Geez.

I think that the All Girl 6 and Coed 6 would be for 18 and up.... that is how level 6 is now at other nationals etc

And He said that teams from other countries could enter those divisions so how would that be hurting UK teams?

Becuase the person was saying about scrapping int teams all together, and if there was no int teams then INTERNATIONAL people (outside of the USA, e.g UK, Australia, Germany etc) couldn't compete at worlds.

I think this would be perfect.

Unlimited is on its last legs anyway. It would just be Large Limited that would have to change.

It would actually MORE push out the international divisions because of so many teams in so few divisions. And besides 1 or 2 teams those are not the same as all the others. I do believe those should not be at the milk house (though it was fun competing there! dont get me wrong)

the international divisions should probably go away anyway, and just have an all girl 6 and coed 6. 6 divisions. International teams can enter them.

Becuase the person was saying about scrapping int teams all together, and if there was no int teams then INTERNATIONAL people (outside of the USA, e.g UK, Australia, Germany etc) couldn't compete at worlds.

i think you mis understood what he was trying to say...

I like this idea
I never thought of the fact that the 14 y/o age was added for the actual international (foreign) teams.... makes sense but doing it the way outlined above makes more sense (4 club 4 open) and just allow any team (United States or other) to enter in any division (that is appropriate)
