I thought it was pretty amazing. This is a good show that is actually showing how hard cheerleaders work. The first ten minutes of it, I saw nothing but hard practicing, difficult pyramids, people doing handstands on one arm, partner stunting and very difficult tumbling passes.

I hope that if anyone watched it, they got a different view of what cheerleading is really like, especially in college.

What are your thoughts?

the crazy dancing was stupid and so cliche.
otherwise it was pretty good,
but they better give us a good name.

completely agree! I also could have done without the stereotypical cattygirl and bobblehead - I hope they move away from that soon!

the dancing could of stayed out of the show, but other than that i thought it was really good

it wasn't bad... the stuff in the beginning was legit. like they did fulls and everything and actual mounts...i think they even double downed out of a stunt.. not sure i was only half watching... i dont like the dancing though and the cheesey "shake it like you're from memphis" stuff, that's a little much, but its a tv show that isn't made by actual cheerleaders so of course i'd expect things like that hahaha. only think i can think of that only a cheerleader would notice and bother with is that she said something about a layout step out and my roommate and i are pretty close to 95% sure it was just a layout... not that the normal tv viewer would notice but it bugged me hahaha. we'll see how the show progresses, i think it could get better or take a turn for the worst cheer wise at this point. only time will tell! haha :)

I was very suprised I wasn't expecting it to be a good show. The storyline is interesting i'm anxious to see how it plays out. I hated the whole dancing section that they do but atleast they actually have good stunting going on through out the show

Hellcat Cheerleaders....

Should we be expecting any teams featured on the show? Or any known names in the cheer world?
Not necessarily known throughout the USA but it's filmed in Vancouver where the Vancouver All Stars are from and that's the program where the majority of the cheerleaders playing the "Hellcats" have been selected from, including Ashley and Aly's doubles. Vancouver All Stars have been to Worlds for 5 years straight - 4th place for both Jr and Sr Teams in 2008, 2009 and 2010 (J5 Team only)... 15 members from Vancouver All Stars are also on Team Canada so we are legit ...

Enjoy the show... sorry about all the dancing; we have no control over it and they hired dance choreographers instead of CHEER....

Can we get them to read the board? That would improve the accuracy of the show.

From what I can see, the board doesn't really have anything negative to say about the show (other than the dancing). I feel like we've become so complacent to cheerleading being shown in such a negative light on TV Shows & movies that we finally have a show that is trying/attempting to showcase cheer leaders as legit, serious and tenacious, and everyone is like... "O.K, that's better at least". So, how do you all really feel about the show now that you've seen 2 episodes?

Truthfully... Warner Bros is trying to appeal to the masses and the Cheerleading community is viewed as a small market within their demographics. They want to appeal to us but are "dumbing it down" and making it more dancy because they think this is what the general viewing audience will understand, relate to and get hyped up by. So, if ratings are high and indicating that everyone is watching, they think they've hit the nail head on.... the Hellcat Cheerleding Cast just does what they're told...

Again... Tell me how you REALLY feel so far... would love to know!! Has the show hit it "head on"?... they would love to know what the Cheerleading community REALLY thinks...

Ok, I'll shoot. It's not AS bad as I thought it would be. I understand them wanting to appeal to the masses. But it kind of has the same story line that every cheer show/movie has. Someone gets hurt, then someone replaces them, they're the underdog, then they win or "win"...etc etc. But again, how many different story lines can you make for a cheerleading show?

I agree about the dancing, it could be left out. But the stunts/tumbling are pretty legit. I kinda think the whole "cheertown" & coed bathrooms doesn't really help the cheerleading stereotype & I'll admit I almost turned it off when she popped in the Bring it On DVD & started dancing around her house.

I could go on about how it seems like they just walk into the competition & compete with out warming up or the fact that you don't really compete with your hair completely down, but again those are petty details only a cheerleader would notice or even care about. Do I think it adds more to the bad cheerleader stereotype? Probably not, but I wouldn't say it helps it.

So, over all, it's not too bad. & Congrats to all your VAS athletes, they're doing a great job, there's nothing wrong with the stunts/tumbling.

I missed the first episode, but watched the 2nd. I thought it was just okay. Obviously I'll keep watching it just because it's a show centered around cheerleading, but like someone else said, I'm not sure how they're gonna keep the storyline interesting. The "personal" storylines for the two main characters were not very engaging. I felt like every character on this show was modeled after the characters on Make It Or Break It. You have your Peyson (Tisdale), you have your Lauren (the girl that got hurt), you have your Emily (Aly with the crazy mom), you get the point. It will be interesting to see if it gets better as the season goes on. I didn't like MIOBI at first either, but now I love it. Maybe this show will grow on me. :)

It just bothers me that this is the best they can come up with......I mean the "cyclones" team was hardly doing anything of true difficulty yet they were "the team to beat"? With some sloppy motions IMO. I'm sure the actual cheerleaders that are in the background are great but can only do what is choreographed for them.... which unfortunately is cheesy dancing mostly. And why is it that when every time someone falls NO ONE catches? Out of the 50 people under them, they all just tip over like dominoes? Not likely....plus no competition spotters which would have prevented "Savannah"'s sister from falling to the floor. And I don't understand why there were kids in allstar uniforms mixed with the cyclones in high school uniforms with the hellcats more collegiate uniforms. ALSO: How did they just have tryouts the week school started and now a competition the next week. I dont know about you, but I certainly don't learn a routine as a team in a week and then go compete it...... don't even get me started about the bogus tryout or "cheer town" which are the most unrealistic things I've ever heard of for college cheer! The whole "shake it like you're from memphis" part really turned me off, because teams that dance like that either :1. get disqualified for vulgarity or 2. have a very trashy routine IMO

Overall, while they don't put down cheerleading any more than it already is per say, I still don't think its doing us much better than bring it on.

Oh, I think the thing that bothered me the most was, when they kept letting Aly (Marti?) fall over & over and over again when they were working on, I think they called it a helicopter?, I realize it's on a mat, but I don't think I've ever heard of any coaches any where allowing people to drop their flyers without so much as trying to catch them because she was falling on a mat. If you're trying to show that you're working a stunt, fine, dropping a stunt, fine, but the bases should have been falling on the ground as well, not just letting her hit the mat over and over again.

And this is another petty detail only a cheerleader would notice, but who practices in full out uniform? Or a uniform skirt & sports bra.

I found myself fast forwarding through most of the show because the storylines are soooo boring. I, personally, would rather watch a good reality show following some All Star or High School squads trying to qualify for Worlds or Nationals. (ex: Cheerleader Nation, etc....) There's an OLD (from 1999) 5 part series that is now on youtube that's called, I think, Inside Cheerleading, that is so fascinating to watch! It follows 3 or 4 allstar teams to NCA Nationals. That is what I would rather see on TV! Sorry! No offense to anyone who enjoys the show!
