If your team has received a bid and they had less than the maximum amount of girls on the floor can they still add to the team to get the maximum amount of athletes? Also can they offer a spot on the team to someone who wasn't a part of their gym at the time the bid was received?

Here is a link to answer your questions.

Bid Receiving Requirements
A team that receives and accepts any type of Worlds
bid, must compete at the Worlds in the same division
they were in at the qualifying event where their bid was
awarded. The number of participants that “performed”
on the competition floor at the qualifying event where
the team received their bid may not be exceeded by the
number of participants competing in that same division
at The Cheerleading Worlds.

Eligible Athletes, Substitutions and
Alternates
NEW:All athletes participating on a team at The 2011
Worlds, must be a registered member of that team’s
gym during the 2010 – 2011 competition season.
Any athlete that has competed with another team from
another gym (Primary Gym) or has been registered
with the USASF as an athlete member from another
gym (Primary Gym), during the same 2010 – 2011
competition season, will have to complete a USASF
Gym Release Waiver, located at www.USASF.net,
signed by the owner of that other gym (Primary Gym)
before that athlete is eligible to compete at the 2011
Cheerleading Worlds with another gym (Secondary
Gym). On The Cheerleading Worlds Roster, each ath-
lete’s name will have to be identified as either an orig-
inal participant of the team that was on the floor
where the bid was received, a substitution or an alter-
nate. All names on the team rosters will be verified by
the event producers who awarded the Worlds bid.
The rule that applies to substitutions is as follows:
• A Maximum of 10 substitutions will be allowed per
team for The Cheerleading Worlds Championship.
A substitute must be a regular paid participant from
another team at the same gym and must have competed
“on the floor” with that team from that gym at the same
event where the bid was awarded. All substitutes must
meet the same eligibility requirements as the original
team that was awarded a bid (i.e. age, etc.).
NEW- WORLDS ALTERNATES: Of the 10 possible sub-
stitutes, one to three of those 10 may be alternates.
Alternates are registered members of the same team’s
gym where the bid was received. Alternates do not
have to be rostered or in attendance at the Worlds bid
qualifying event where the bid was received. Any ath-
lete that has competed with another team from another
gym (Primary Gym) or has been registered with the
USASF as an athlete member from another gym
(Primary Gym) ,during the same 2010 – 2011 compe-
tition season, will have to have a USASF Gym Release
Waiver, located at www.USASF.net, signed by the
owner of that other gym (Primary Gym) before that ath-
lete is eligible to compete at The 2011 Cheerleading
Worlds with another gym (Secondary Gym). If a team
is found to have made an improper substitution or alter-
nate, this team will:
• Be disqualified.
• Be responsible for repaying the total cost of any
funds received through a “Paid” or “Partial Paid”
bid.
• Not be eligible for any type of bid to The
Cheerleading or Dance Worlds for the
following year.
The USASF/IASF sponsored bids, “paid” or “partial
paid,” are for team members and two coaches. All
sponsored team members must be on the floor during
the team’s performance at The Cheerleading Worlds.
Alternates and/or additional athletes/coaches
brought to substitute for unplanned occurrences are
not covered under “Paid” or “Partial Paid” bids and
will not be funded by the sponsoring event producer
and must be eligible for substitution under the afore-
mentioned substitution rules. Should a substitute and
or an alternate become necessary after submission of
your team’s registered roster and after travel plans
have been approved and confirmed, any additional
costs associated with those substitution(s) must be paid
by the gym.

Crossovers
At The Cheerleading Worlds, crossovers of partici-
pants between teams from the same gym are NOT
permitted. In other words, a participant can only
compete on one team from a gym/program.
Crossovers of participants from other gyms will not be
permitted.
Crossovers of participants between cheer and dance
teams from the same or other gyms are not permitted.
In other words, a performer may represent only one
gym in either cheer or dance.
If teams are found to have a crossover, those teams will:
• Be disqualified.
• Be responsible for repaying the total cost of
any funds received through a “Paid” or
“Partial Paid” bid.
• Not be eligible for any type of bid to The
Cheerleading or Dance Worlds for the
following year.

In case you dont feel like reading... the number of people on the FLOOR is the number that must be on the worlds mat. so if you competed with 30 and also had 3 alternates, you cant just add them to your team.

The number on your roster must be the same at Worlds as it was at the event from which you received your bid.

You can substitute 10 of your original roster spots with 10 athletes that were registered at that event from your gym.

You can have 3 alternates that did not attend the competition you were at and may or may not have been registered at your gym at the time of the event. (If they have competed with another team that season already then that gym must sign a wavier for the alternate to compete prior to the worlds date) ((registration for the gym can be turned in anytime before the actual worlds dates))

Thats 10 substitutes -OR- 7 substitutes and 3 alternates

Paid and Partial Paid bids DO NOT cover alternates or substitutes

This is my breakdown of the rules wcdad has copied and pasted and are available on the USASF website or in your bid packet and in no way represent any official rulings. Any specific questions should be directed to the appropriate USASF authorities.

Paid and Partial Paid bids DO NOT cover alternates, additional coaches, or substitutes brought in case of emergency. This means they are not on the roster prior to the worlds event. They will only pay for alternates and substitutes that are turned in on the official roster prior to the worlds event. (I think) lol

Your bid DOES cover substitutions that your properly identify on your roster by the deadline. This can get a bit confusing based on what is posted so far so here are some scenarios I have seen:

Scenario A: Susie Fierce the base gets hurt bench pressing a football player. It happens before the roster is turned in so the coach substitutes her with one of the team's allowed subsitutes. This should not decrease the amount of bid money based on the number of athletes who competed when they earned their bid.

Scenario B: Susie gets hurt after the roster is submitted (anytime after the roster is submitted including at Worlds) but the coach submitted 7 substitutes and 3 alternates. There should be no decrease in bid money, but the gym is responsible for any changes to travel costs, accommodations, etc.

Scenario C: Susie gets hurt but the roster was submitted with a max of 10 substitutions already. An alternate can be added still, with the gym paying for the travel costs but the team can't have any more substitutions, so they will have to compete minus one athlete leaving her spot open or replacing Susie with the new alternate and removing one of the rostered substitutions so that there are no more than the 10 total max.

Last but not least you can't add a third coach on the roster as one of your substituions and get bid money for that coach.

I know this can't possible cover all scenarios, but hopefully helps make sense of the rules with some situations I have seen or heard of.

Sorry, let me try that again. If you bring Susie to hang out with Betty at Worlds just in case Betty or any one on her team gets taken out by an angry gopher on the Grass in front of the Milk House then Susie has to pay her own way or that gym has to pick up her tab. Oh yeah, that is much easier with hypothetical people :)

I tried to go back and edit..but I'm new to this. Now I know there is a 4 min limit. More proof reading in the future for me.

Does any one know if the Worlds bids rules are relevant to International teams ie. do International teams receiving a bid need to follow the same rules?

As far as I know, yes.

Thanks ACEDAD is there anyway to find out for sure coz pretty sure overseas teams are not following bid rules as mentioned above as well as other bid rules

I'm checking for verification.

No... internationals do not need to follow the same guidelines... we can compete with 6 on the mat for our bid, and still take 24...

many teams here in australia get their bid and THEN hold a worlds tryouts to bring more talent in from other teams that were not so fortunate.

Australia does no follow these guidelines... do whatever pretty much once you get your bid here

How can that be fair if you compete in an event especially one as prestigious as Worlds that teams don't follow the rules. What about receiving bids coz I heard some teams don't even compete to receive a bid
