I think it's a pretty standard design. The side "stripe" was pretty popular in the Varsity catalog 3 or 4 years ago, just that these have shorts instead of the skirt. The numbers are different, but I think that was done to seem more athletic.
I really like it, as a judge I can take note of who is tumbling and really notice the "recycling" going on!

Exactly! Acrobatics and Tumbling(NCATA) created this look to focus on the skills and remove the entertainment/performer aspect that takes away from the sport.

pretty sure the uniforms are still skirts which is what I like. They have an athletic look but still kept the skirt. I think that is what makes me like these uniforms more then the other athletic looking uniforms with shorts because they made me think of a volleyball team.

Side note: GK Elite's new catalog has a "college" section that has nice, clean, collegiate looking uniforms! Cant wait for you all to see!!!

I took videos of everything UofL all girl did today at the meet and will be uploading them tomorrow...ill post it on here =]

I really want to see both in action to get a feel for how they go. Thanks for taking videos.

UofL and Morehead had skirts, WVU had shorts.

And there was still some "tucking the stuff back in" after tumbling passes.

with the 3 teams it was my understanding that 2 teams went head to head and the 3rd team performed next alone. However, there were several times when a team forfeited performing a routine because they either did not know it well enough or did not want to perform it? when that happened, just the 2 teams went at the same time.

scoring is like this i think....for each routine, 1st place gets 2 points, 2nd gets 1, and 3rd gets zero points. This part I'm not sure about but i think for each quarter (excluding the 4th quarter) each teams performed 3 routines of the specific category (ex....1st quarter was stunts, 2nd was jumps and tumbling, 3rd was baskets and pyramids) and so you could get up to 6 points per quarter if you won all 3 routines. The final quarter is just the team final performance and it's worth 3 times as many points, so 1st place gets 6 points, 2nd gets 3 points, and 3rd gets zero points.

It was actually fairly easy to follow when you were actually sitting there watching.

I love the clean athletic look and the numbers on the back... I REALLY miss the bow!

Okaaaay. I though the first three rounds were boring. What's up with the high school stunting? I mean toe touch baskets and stair step extensions? Really?? And I definitely did not expect to see a round off back handspring in the tumbling round. And even the pyramid section was dumbed down. I know all three teams could do a toss 221 and then some, so why are we pulling those girls up? When I think Louisville Cheer I think greatness. And doing high school stunts and getting into pyramids in the easiest possible way is not great.
I mean, I heard that the stuff they do in Stunt was not as advanced as the stuff in the NCATA, but I think any school wanting to throw their hat into the ring and create a Stunt team should have more difficulty than what was shown. Are they trying to dumb it down so even Podunk University can create a Stunt team and be competitive? I say give PU something to aspire to! Up the difficulty level so all of the stuff they do in a Stunt contest is at least collegiate!

In fairness I think when you are figuring something out you wont necessarily do the hardest stuff cause you are trying to figure out exactly how it works. It is a different setup than allstar. What happens by the ned of the season and next year is going to be different and better than this year.

Judge it off of what happens in three years. Thats about how long it takes for something to hit its stride.

I agree with both, I see where they are trying to go but also its College teams so there should be and expectation of College skills in all rounds. Def wanna see more.

I am blown away at this video. After officiating 3 NCATA meets and watching this I have no idea how USA Cheer/Stunt thinks the NCAA will make Stunt a collegiate sport when they are performing high school cheer routines. I understand things being a work in progress but Stunt doesn't have 3 years to catch up before the NCAA picks a format. Really you almost can't compare the two, they are like apples and oranges.

Throw in the fact that NCATA teams get real scholarships and ALL of the benefits of a Varsity sport right now, not some day. I know as parent which direction my kid would be going.
