i like that i know for sure where to find level 5's all day.. but i would LOVE to have a chance to compete there..
last year and this year i have been/will be in the halls only

and about the seating in the arena.. i love the way the stands are because you don't have to try to peek over people's heads in front of you!

My team is competing in the arena. can anyone give any insight to what its like performing there? I was in hall a last year...

The Arena has a "Worlds" feel and their truly is no bad seat in the house. I know security is pretty good at keeping people from saving seats so if you want a seat I suggest you get there early and stay in your seat :)

Not a performer, but I was on the floor with my team last year and I would say it has the most "on stage" feel of any competition. You are surrounded by the stadium seats going way up and with the lighting it probably feels like they go on forever. The lighting is dark with lots of stage lights on the floor. It probably makes some kids feel like rockstars (no pun to the gym intended) out there. For others, it can really be intimidating.

My advice would be to relax and put on a show like you do back home.

is there spectator seating reserved for that teams parents?

No. It is "first come" for seating. The arena is pretty large and even sitting up is not a bad seat at all. In the halls the seating is very minimium and the parents are only going to want to go sit in there to see the few teams before and after their childs team and then their team. It basically consists of a pull out bleacher section and then some folding chairs in a few sections and that is it.

If you are thinking about a traditional priority seating area like in most competitions, no.

The floor is down in the bottom of the stadium like if you were in a basketball arena, or how I think about it, in a rock concert. It's also about 8 feet below the seating, which is angled up pretty high so there really isn't a place where you can't see the floor.

Some people have mentioned the "seat horders." Try to get there a little before your team performs as a group and please don't spread out and take 20 seats if you aren't using them, everyone wants that center section. The other thing that is kind of rude is when people are getting up during a performance. Sometimes you can't help it, but please at least try to consider those behind you trying to watch.

Thanks Guys, I just want to make sure my parents know about the arena before we get there... Glad I said something bc they would probably try to go sit in the front of floor! Bahahhaa! See you guys in a couple of days! Good luck to all teams from every state!

Security is pretty darn tight at the event too. They will absolutely not let you bring in camcorders or zoom lens cameras. I know some people have been pretty sneaky but those of us who just want to take normal pics often get hounded about the type of camera's we are carrying.

is anyone going to be there at the very beginning when Y5 and JC5 and J4 go on? it's early, but i would like updates :)

We should be in the arena by 10. Daughter goes at 9. She will be tweeting and her name is in the tweet thread.

I can't remember, do they allow you to bring in food?

I've taken in snacks in my purse or backpack and always carry in a bottle or two of water. There is no one guarding the doors to let you into the building so if you are bringing in something from somewhere like McD's no one is there to tell you that you can not.
