Does anyone else think that the 2011 Cheerleading Worlds was the most poorly ran one yet?

Ran behind all weekend
Power outage
Music problems
Spotters...
International teams with more boys than permitted, and even winning.
And supposedly countries with more than 3 teams (read a bit from another thread)
And the venue....people pay hundreds of dollars to see their children, siblings, favorite teams compete each year, no one wants to sit at the dang baseball field and watch a screen....
And a warm up room staff that needs to take the stick out of you know where
-I wasnt allowed to my own team warm up unless i was fully dressed, although i was in spandex, bra, half up half down curls, a huge bow, full out raccoon eye smokey eye make up and lips, people dont just dress this way for fun, at least i hope not, and i havent warmed up in a full uniform in years.

Wondering if anyone else thought Worlds wasn't the 'ish' this year....

I thought the 'Barbados' team at ICU was 'different'. NOW I'm wondering what the qualifications are for that competition Am I missing something? There were a lot of ICU teams that didn't have 'worlds' skills. I admit that I've never watched those divisisions before, except for Bangkok, but, I'd really be interested to know what their competitions are like at home, and the caliber they face. Not saying the US is the best AT ALL, but we know they're awesome , but, now watching these ICU teams, I am wondering what these other country teams face at home, and what the difference of going to worlds is like.

BTW, poor Barbados.........they really tried extremely hard with what they had. Those girls can shake it, lol. Wonder what they'd look like with a different choreographer :) props to them to come all the way to worlds (but what competition did they actually qualify in to get to Worlds??!!!!) anybody else see them?

and even though they were running so far behind they insisted on taking those 15-30 breaks. im sorry judges, but make it a 10 minute break and be done with it so we can get going...

Here is one company that offer worlds qualifikation. The only thing what you need is to win with the highest score of your country. So there could be 5 Teams and when you took the 5th place an dyou are the only one from your country in this division, u can go to worlds. Only when you got first u get the paid package.

i feel that spotters should be bold!

If I had to sit and watch teams over and over, especially at a comp where an entire gym's name is on the line, I would want as many breaks as I could get to step away, clear my head and return (somewhat) refreshed. You're awesome for being able to relax in 10 minutes. I would need more like 60.

All I can tell you is that at EVERY event that I have EVER judged, if you are running behind, you either lose or shorten the breaks on the schedule. Worlds was WAY behind schedule most of the weekend. Rude.

And they shortened breaks every single time. You need to give the judges some sort of break, so you can't eliminate them completely.

Thanks for the laugh!!!

I never was there when they shortened one of the breaks. As a matter of fact, they added more in addition to what was on the schedule. So that was my complaint about the breaks. I am not saying keep them there for 12 hours straight....but if you are running SO far behind, adding in more and taking the breaks as scheduled is just rude IMO.

It was bad enough that there were not enough seats but the seats I had were up high behind the judges and had a great view BUT everytime a big name team came on "A GUY" would stand right behind the judges and blocked our view. I went to ask politely if he could move and he did for 5 minutes but then again when Cheer Extreme came on there he was with another person blocking our view. I took a picture and went down to show them how he was being extremely rude by standing there and after arguing with the them he finally sat down and didn't move the rest of the comp. Supposingly he was over seeing the judges but on day 2 there was no one standing there at all for the entire day!!! They really need to find another venue to many people in such a congested area. AND what's up with one restaurant and they close before the competition even finishes????

yes some of the worlds staff were not to friendly this year, and oh yeah i paid 50 bucks to go sit outside duh, i mean who didnt? haha
