I'm really impressed by this thread, quite obviously I have no idea who BlueCat is, owner, coach etc., but to create a thread and answer questions honestly is quite admirable, maybe other gyms will do the same.

Without seeming like a copycat I'm sure Rays would do the same. But wasn't trying to steal any CA thunder. Although most questions for us seem to be does Orange require bobs (no) and do you put black girls on Orange ( we don't care, we put girla who have skill and usually Ray experience. But there is one and 3 Asians this year) there I just killed the need for a Rays thread.

Maybe a Q&A for people to ask the big name gyms questions?

Question! Being that Wildcats is an Open team, how often do they practice and what time of the year do they typically begin practicing? Asking this because here in Georgia the problem with open teams is that most of the talent comes from college kids who dont get here until August most times and they can only commit to one practice a week.

Practice twice a week. Summers, we are doing good to get everyone there once a week - typically the Sunday practices have nearly everyone there. The ones who can get there for both practices will do the most improvement on their individual skills, though.

Once colleges start back up, the team really kicks into high gear pretty quickly.

Not worried about the "thunder". I just got a little tired of answering the same questions about rumors all the time - thought it would be more efficient to just answer them once in a public forum.

Although there are several questions that I am surprised have not been asked yet.

A Q&A for all the gyms would be cool. I don't know much about allstar (or anything about CA), but I was just curious as to how the big gyms look at co-ed Lv6 teams to compare what it's like in my area.

What do you feed your athletes and where can I buy it/obtain it in the black market?
Would you ever bring the name "Wildcats" back to your Large Coed team?

Are there any plans, or at the very least some consideration of travel outside of Texas? I was pleasantly pleased that videos of the teams remained up throughout the season, so is that something that will be allowed to continue?

I think Indy or BATC should be considered. :)

If you saw what some of the kids ate, you would be amazed that they can still look as athletic as they do.

Wildcats and Cheetahs have basically switched names over the years. Wildcats was originally the large coed team name. When it became obvious that you had to have 20+ boys to be competitive in large coed in 2007-8ish (thank you Victor) we bailed out of that division and moved to International, where there was a gender cap. (Getting to 22 males at the time was an economic nightmare.)

The new team was almost entirely made of former "Wildcats" so they took the name with them. The following year, we added a Small Coed Small team and brought back the "Cheetah" name that had formerly been used by our Open Coed 6 team. Over the last 2 years this team has basically grown into what the "Wildcats" were before. So the names basically switched places.

I doubt we will switch back. Each set of athletes probably prefers the name that they have now.

We have not made competition plans for the new season, but there has been serious discussion about extending the "reach" of our teams - particularly those who do not have much local competition. Most of the divisions are deep at the Texas nationals, but at L4, 5, and 6, there are starting to be fewer and fewer teams to compete against. This may lead to them travelling more than they used to.

We would LOVE to go to CheerSport at some point. We also loved when we competed in Vegas and Anaheim a few years back.

I don't see a scenario where we would go to anything at Disney World. It is bad enough that Worlds is there without going there voluntarily for another event.

Just the thought of the potential travel has made me very happy :D
