ummmmm at my gym we wear t shirts but Im rly fine with both i think whatever is most comfortable with the athlete.
i personally like team sports bras but have a optional matching tank top so the team can still be matching but be wearing what they want.

I personally think it should be up to the athlete and that athlete's parents. If it is alright for people to walk around the beach in a swim suit, post pictures on facebook in a swim suit, etc. then I don't see the big deal about sports bras and shorts. I respect gyms that only allow t-shirts for sticking to their guns, but personally I don't see a problem with it.

The only semi problem (could be a big problem) with just wearing a sports bra are for girls that have a larger chest, PLEASE WEAR MULTIPLE BRAS.

I don't have that much of an opinion about it except for when I coach tumbling. Everyone must wear a shirt. There's no way I can spot tucks or layouts when someone isn't wearing a shirt and is sweaty.
I'm kind of the other way. I would rather my hand not get twisted up in a loose shirt - particularly if they are twisting or doing multiple skills (spotting several BHS in a row, for example.) You can make it work either way, but my preference for spotting would be either tightly-tucked-in shirts or sports tops.

Well sports bras are good when its hot & tshirts are good when its cold. I dont think anyone will be wearing a sports bra when its like 40 degrees out. Just saying.
But during the hot weather season, wear a sports bra under your shirt. And when it get hot, simply take the shirt off

our gym gets so hot in the summer there is no chance i could wear a shirt... a lot of the girls do though, they tend to wear tank tops but i just can't stand the heat so i prefer sports bras

At our practices I let the girls wear what they prefer. Some wear just sports bras other wear tank and some wear shirts. It's all up to them. I've been asking my girls if they want to have specific practice wear and they've all been into it, now it's just a matter of what they'd wear.

I ask them to tuck in their shirts if they're pretty sweaty. My hand has only gotten caught once in a shirt. I don't use the shirt too much for spotting (as in, grab it and spot with the shirt). I lift with one hand and guide with the other hand. The only time I grab shirts is if a girl needs to make her backhandspring longer (I pull the shirt) or if the girl just needs me to "be there" when she does a skill.

I prefer sports bra because I think it's easier to move when you don't have a T-Shirt on you. I'm happy because this year our practice wear is 3 sports bras, 2 shorts, and 1 pair of spandex :)

I always wear T-shirts because I think it's uncomfortable stunting and just generally being around people when I'm really sweaty. And tank tops are too tight, can't stand them.

well i cheer in scotland where it is warm like 5 days of the year lol. My kids all train in tshirts or tanks ... i only find i have the hand-caught-in-top situation when they have a ponytail holder (i think thats the american phrase for a bobble lol) tied around it. We were training in a gymnastics hall a month or so ago and it was like a sauna so the kids had just their sports bras on and they were slipping away from me all day was a night mare spotting running passes.

I secondary base and backspot, if i train in a tank top i always end up with skin burn on my upper arms from where my other bases catch ...not cool!

My gym doesn't really care what we practice in during the beginning of the summer before we get our practice clothes and the flyers usually wear sports bras and soffe shorts. This year were getting two set of sports bras and spandex from GK, I personally love the idea of wearing them because your t shirt doesn't stick to your body and get slippery from wiping sweat off (gross i know lol). But since where i cheer at, its like a big facility with indoor soccer courts (2) and two full basketball court, a food court, a gymnastics gym (same program as my cheer gym, just in different rooms) and a dance room so our coaches are giving us shirts to wear coming and going to the gym because the coaches would feel it were more appropriate than walking infront of a bunch of teenage boys in a sports bra and spankies. But thats JMO.
