don't take this the wrong way, but tattoos are something people get when they have something that really means something to them and is really personal. if you're asking for an idea for a tattoo, maybe you're not ready for it.
i don't mean that to be rude at all, just advising you to really think it over. a good cheer mom of mine right here on the boards talked to me about mine when i was considering it. in fact, if you go in the random section, theres a nice long thread on it.
i just don't want you to regret it later. :)

but, if i was going to get a tattoo, it was just going to say swim, with the asterisk for the dot on the eye. or the whole phrase: "i swim for brighter days despite the absence of sun" or "the currents will drag us away from our love, just keep your head above, swim". mostly i just wanted to go with "swim" because no one else would know what it meant unless they asked. its all from the jacks mannequin song swim, which has more meaning to me then i could ever possibly even try to explain. every rough patch or struggle, including the one i'm dealing with now is made easier just by that song. you'd be surprised the power held within music. that and ive done a project on the singer and i know his life story, so that too is very influential.

but like @Mamarazzi said, you'll find plenty of good quotes in the woo sahhh thread. :)

@ShoWStoppeR is correct in that tats are forever. Seriously, forEVER. It would be hard for many to say that they love a tattoo as much, say, 15-20 years after they get it as they did when they were 18. But, if it's meaningful, positive, and beautiful to you, then that's what matters. Asking for ideas is fine, but make sure you think before you ink.

“It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.”

“It is our choices...that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.”

“Happiness can be found in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”

-Albus Dumbledore

Those are some of my favorite quotes, and I'm totally not crying right now because I only have a week until Harry Potter is over and trying to make it last by inserting it into ever conversation. Nope. Not true.

I have 'always follow your heart' as one of my tattoos.

That is the motto I live by...alway follow your heart. If you don't follow your heart, then you're automatically wrong.

Whatever you decide, make sure it means something to you personally, and isn't just some saying you like. :)
