best one Ive ever heard...a mom told a coach at the gym her cp missed practice because she had came down with the "hucklebuck" and that it was really bad........ok now my coach was like oooh ok..she then googled it and well....go google hucklebuck.
...True story.
OMG ! -__- you cant be serious ?

We had a girl on my vb team this year who would randomly miss practices and GAMES because it was SO imperative she meet with her tutor. Come to find out, the week of homecoming she told us she had a mandatory tutor meeting during a game (funny enough, my mother was going to play her that game. And because she missed it, she couldn't play in the next one either lol). Later on, two of the JV girls ratted her out to my mum (who's the JV Coach) because they were sick of her lying to my mum all the time about why she was missing practices/games. Where was she during that game? GETTING HER NAILS DONE. This isn't intramural volleyball, ladies..

HAHAHAHAHAHAH I actually googled it and I am a little intrigued by 2 things...#1-that the girl or her mom knew that term....#2 that they felt comfortable saying it to a coach.

A few months ago when we had team day on a Saturday afteroon.. two girls on the senior team said they couldnt be there b/c they had SAT prep at school... then they "checked in" on facebook to some concert! UGh.. if you are gonna lie dont be posting all over facebook!

"But it's my birthday!"

Cool, Happy Birthday! We compete in 2 days, we'll sing to you as we warm up tumbling. See you at practice.

"The weather is bad".........it wasn't even raining. Or snowing. Or even cold....

"We have to go shopping for her Miss ________ pageant next week." (The girl was 17 years old.)

I LOVE having anything cheer related on my birthday! There's no one else i'd rather be with then with my team on my birthday<3

I understand circumstances arise...but I can't STAND the "I don't have a ride" excuse. I would get that like once a week this year. Seriously. Call me, I'll pick you up. You see that giant phone list of everyone addresses, cells, moms cells, dads cells, AND emails I gave you after tryouts. This is exactly what it's for. USE IT.

Also got a "my daughter is in the ER and will not be at practice tonight" text an hour into practice. Of course, I responded concerned, saying please keep me updated on if I need to pull her for this weekend, etc. "No she'll be fine she'll see you tomorrow". She came to practice the next day and competed that weekend. Nothing more was ever spoken of it.

"I'm grounded"

If your child is committed to a team, cheerleading should not be taken away as a punishment. You're punishing the entire squad when we don't have the full team there to practice the new pyramid and drop it that weekend because we haven't ran it full out.

(On a school team who begins competing in late August/early September, plus attends sleep-away camp)
"She's going to summer camp....for 6 weeks"
Um.....WHAT?

I'm sorry I just love this thread.

At the parents meeting the Monday after results were posted I gave out May and June calendars. Monday-Thursday practices all month long. They had July off. A mom came up to me with about 2 days each month and told me these we the ones she "could make with her hectic ballet schedule". I'm all for ballet, I love dance, but why did you choose to add cheerleading to the mix?

It ended up working out in the long run...but parents please don't let your kids try out for cheer with like 45 minutes free every other Wednesday. It's hard managing their schedule, I'm sure. Imagine how I feel trying to plan out practice times around 24 girls schedules, around when we can get gym space at the school, plus my own full course load in my hardest year of college PLUS working 40 hours a week. No wonder my GPA took a nose dive this semester! haha

a girl's mom came ran in frantically, in the middle of a full out, yelling that her daughter had to feed her horses... then proceeded to pull her daughter off the mat.

again this is the middle of a full out. the entire team sat in silence for 5 minutes confused at what just went on
