I seem to know just enough to be really stupid? USASF runs worlds but nothing else??? Varsity runs almost everything leading up to Worlds??? (but most varsity boards members are usasf members?) Jam Brands is part of Varsity but talks about breaking away? So sorry for all the questions but can someone please explain it for me? Am I correct on any of this or completely lost?

To my knowledge Jambrands is not a part of Varsity. Other than that you seem to be correct.

I feel like Varsity is trying to take over the cheer world. Just my opinion.
I think I agree (don'y know if thats good, bad or somewhere in the middle though) So if bids to worlds are given by varsity names and non varsity names is there a biased from usasf at worlds? Are there many non varsity names that give bids?

what if all the comps varsity owns goes under one score sheet wouldnt it be easier for everyone?

They can and they will. USASF is controlled by Varsity. It's bad for the sport. Varsity loses out if all-stars and high school are granted sport status. Only one nationals = lots less $$.

THIS is the crux of it all. Varsity is buying up everything and we all saw Jeff Webb say in court "Cheerleading is not a sport". If cheer were named a sport, and a National Governing Body was formed, Varsity would lose tons of money. TONS. They also "own" USA Cheer (which owns Stunt). See where this is going?

DUH. If cheerleading was named a sport there'd be regulations (SHOCK) and people would have to play by the same rules (DOUBLE SHOCK). That means WV high schools would have to get mats (THE HORROR) and there'd be a universal score sheet (SAY IT AIN'T SO). Uniforms would probably be regulated (GASP) and there'd have to be trainers available (I HAVE RUN OUT OF FAUX ANGER).

But if STUNT is going for NCAA status and Varsity owns USA Cheer which runs STUNT then wouldn't they be losing control/money if NCAA picks it up? If they know they will lose control/money then why would they go for NCAA status?

I think that Varsity is buying it all to be in control like many businesses try to do. I know that some argue that USASF is NOT Varsity but if you look at who is in charge it is sorta clear that Varsity has a large share of the USASF when it comes to control. I have no issue with them going for control if they can do it without corruption (in reality I don't see that happening).

As for the Jeff Web court thing, I can't say I don't agree with what he said seeing as how it is hard for me to classify cheer as a legit sport the same way I do others because of the disorgnization of it all.

debbie, beyond worlds USASF is in charge of alot of other things, such at deciding on the age grid for all age levels and the rules for each level. Eventually when it is mandatory for all athlete to be credentialed they will be in charge of that. They also offer insurance and other things. I for one do not feel like they should be in the same building as Varsity but to be honest lets see it like it really is, varsity might not own USASF outright but it sure seems like it!

I read this all as if this was Harry Potter because you said "crux"

Just to clarify, Jeff Webb testified that SIDELINE cheer isn't a sport. Outside of court he is on record as saying that competitive cheerleading is most definitely a sport.

Yeah plus his tesimony had nothing to do with all star cheer it was in a case dealing with a college team. Even if STUNT or NCATA gains status by NCAA it will have nothing to do with all star cheer. Since all star is the club side of things it will have to gain it's own recognition.
