Help! We are traveling to Dallas for NCA nationals and are not very familiar with our options once we are in the city. Many of us are staying about 15 minutes outside the city...I know there is the DART system, and also saw that there are buses to take you to the system from your hotel. I could not find out how much the bus costs for each person to go from the hotel to the DART station...any advice? Thanks!

DART.org - Dallas Area Rapid Transit

Everything depends on where your hotel is. It could be right next to a Dart station and walk, you could have hotel transportation to a DART station (ask the hotel), or you could even theoretically use a DART bus to get where you needed (not recommended.)

Hey BlueCat, any suggestions for food around the convention center? (walking or short cab ride) We tried to wander around last year but found Dallas quite a ghost town on the weekend and some blocks a little sketchy. We will only have about an hour and a half to two hour break to go eat. There is only so much convention food I can digest in a weekend and our hotel was extremley over whelmed with the demand last year and a hamburger took over an hour to arrive!!

I would guess that the best bet would be to hop on DART and go to the West End area, which is just on the other side of downtown from the Convention Center. I can't imagine that would take more than a few minutes travel on the train either way. I believe there are train stations at both the Convention Center and at West End. There are numerous restaurants there and it is very clean and family-friendly. (at least it was the last time I was there a couple of years ago.)

Someone from closer to the downtown area may have more info than I do.

West End is a very good area to get to and easy to walk around as well. Lots of great info here:

Thank you for your help! So much easier to ask here than search through all the websites. Any specific reason to avoid the bus? That is what I was thinking we would have to do :(

Public bus is probably safe, but it would be difficult to get a decent sized group anywhere quickly.

Avoid the cabs as much as you can...Tell you one price and change it when you get to your destination. I had a guy chase me because I didnt tip him after he scammed us !! Thank goodness for airport security !!

I'm staying at the hilton anatole, it's about 3 miles away from the convention center...too far to walk but pretty close. How crazy is the parking?

Anyone take DART from the airport to the Hyatt downtown? I have a car reserved but it will just sit in a lot all weekend...

Thank you all for your help...we are going to use a free shuttle from our hotel to the DART station, and use the DART to go back and forth from convention center. Good luck to everyone this weekend!!!
