For those that asked. Some of this is almost laughable given the events of the past day - if it weren't so outrageous;

USASF Governance Overview
The USASF is a not for profit corporation established in Tennessee. It is governed by Bylaws, officers, a Board of Directors, a National Advisory Board, a World Advisory Board, and 13 standing committees. The day to day operation of the USASF is handled by full time, part time, and volunteer staff.

The officers are a President, Vice President, and a Secretary/Treasurer elected by the Board of Directors.

Board of Directors - The Board of Directors has a Chairman plus 12 voting directors and 3 non-voting directors. Nine of the directors represent the competition event producers that originally started the USASF and the original staff of the USASF. These seats are permanent. One seat is for the Chairman of the NACCC. The 3 remaining coach seats are elected by the Board of Directors for 2 year terms. The non-voting seats are represent one each for JAMbrands, The Independent Event Producers, and Varsity Brands. The Board of Directors role is to set policy, mediate disputes between Committees, be the final appeal authority for members disagreeing with Committee decisions, and to insure the USASF stays true to its mission.

National Advisory Board – The National Advisory Board has 25 members who are all elected for 2 year terms by the membership. Ten are coaches, 10 are competition event producer representatives, and 5 are representatives of affiliate members. The role of the National Advisory Board is to set the agenda for the USASF as it addresses the future in a manner that will democratically represent the entire membership of the USASF.

World Advisory Board – The World Advisory Board (WAB) is composed of international industry leaders appointed by the Chairman of the WAB. The role of the WAB is to set the international agenda of the USASF as it addresses the future in a manner that will properly represent the international membership of the USASF.

Committees – The role of USASF Committees is to expertly address specific issues of importance to the many constituencies that are represented by the all star community.
For example, the Rules Committee is composed of the foremost rules experts representing both coaches and competition event providers while the NACCC addresses issues from a coaches perspective including, but not limited to, rules.

There is a major difference between being here and lurking, and joining just to come and complain and start drama. Not all newbies are drama, and many contribute great discussion. If you've been here, you know how drama gets started very easily with people that aren't familiar with the boards.

This is what I predict for Saturday, and I hope I'm wrong: "LIKE OMG I'M QUITTING! This is CrAZy!!! usasf is the worst, lik totally HITLER!"

I want discussion, and I want ideas on how to make it better or fix the problem, not drama.

I am sure you are right about what will happen, lol! But they too are allowed to gripe and complain just as everyone has been doing for the past 24 hours. They are just a bit late to the show. Didn't want to start an arguement. Sometimes you have to get the complaining out of the way before the good ideas start rolling in...

I know that I mentioned it at the beginning of the thread and it got a few shimmies, but I really want others to give their opinion on it:

If they refuse to budge and add the tumbling back to level 5, do you think they should add it to level 6 in order to make the difference in the two levels greater then just stunts(baskets and pryamids)? I know that many have argued in the past to add double backs in level 6 to create a difference, but if standing fulls and such are no longer allowed in level 5 should they then add it to level 6?

I can see good and bad to this. If they add it to level 6 then more gyms that have that talent will try to put together a level 6 routine when they can't do the stunts and stuff safely, but then again it will add a bigger difference in the two levels that people have been wanting for a while.

I have mixed feelings. I actually like the emphasis on stunting in level 6, it's reminiscent of college. Most of the tumblers would probably prefer to be in on an open 5 team than an open 6, and 6 tends to be where the stunters/former college cheerleaders who don't tumble as much go. So it doesn't quite fit in with that image.

So it seems that the USASF is set up like the Government is (well parts of it) but they don't want to do things the way it should be done. I really recommend they all go back and take a high school government class to study up on how to run what they are trying to run.

From Facebook (Courtney's my new hero!!!):
ASGA Call for Retraction
By Courtney Smith-Pope in A.S.G.A. · Edit Doc · Delete
The 977 members of the ASGA call for the immediate retraction of the mandates set forth by the Board of Directors. We ask that each individual ruling be put forth through due process and vetted by the appropriate committees already in place. We ask that coaches from all over, large gym and small gym, be granted their inalienable right to vote on each ruling independently and not as a whole package. The athletes position and voice should be made heard thru the vote of their respected coach. Regardless of position or effect on any of the rules set in motion, the ASGA is in place to insure that that "we the people" of the cheerleading community are heard. These rulings effect not only our businesses but more importantly have demoralized our athletes.

We further request in an effort to restore faith that the documentation cited for injury analysis be made public on the USASF website.

Lastly, we ask the image and appearance initiative by made separate from the age grid and rule changes from this point forward for purposes of public discussion and debate.

Respectfully,

Courtney Smith-Pope, Randy Dickey

Everyone in All Star Cheer know the risks of tumbling, we all sign a waiver at the beginning of the season we know everytime we tumble that something could go wrong , most injuries are usually flukes. I have permanate ligament damage in my knee from my flyer coming down wrong 5 years ago, it had nothing to do with tumbling, though it does make it worse when tumbling now but the cause was not from it. I sprained my ankle pretty badly a month ago doing a round off. Those things are complete flukes.

I'm on an International team and more than half my team is under 18. It's the closest team I've ever been on, age doesn't matter on this team. We're all friends, we all get along and we're all doing what we love to do. I think the age change shouldn't drastically go from 14-17. It should be 15 or 16+. That way you're giving the smaller gyms a chance to compete competitively with what they have. .

Links aren't working because USASF removed the documents from yesterday.

I think a new announcement will be out soon
Thanks. Thought it was just mine. Got an email from USASF with breaking news announcement and when I opened it none of the links worked! Think maybe they pulled the trigger on this before it was time. I know all the level 5 kids and parents in my CPs gym are members and I feel all the members should get a vote of some sort before they so drastically changing something that 1. All of us parents have invested so much time and money in and 2. CPs have risked so much on and sacrificed so much for. If they continue in this dictatorial direction you will see another governing body pop up soon giving people a choice. IMHO
