All-Star Worlds 2013 Finals On Monday?

I agree with you that contacting the appropriate people can potentially make more difference than just posting on a message board.

However, many of the people involved in those decisions read these boards as well. This is a great focus-group and/or sounding board for many ideas. I wouldn't suggest that people stop posting here, just add in emailing the USASF to what they are already doing.

(That being said, don't just write in and say "I hate moving to Monday, that is stupid." Put some thought into it and present your alternative ideas in a well-thought out manner.)
Thank you for clarifying. I in NO WAY mean for people to stop posting here. I am a huge "fierceboard" fan. I was just trying to add an additional outlet in hopes that talk turns to change.

Here's a thought though-
Even if they DID do session seating (you buy a ticket for each 'session' and then clear everyone out), would that REALLY discourage that many people? It might clear up a few seats here and there (especially if they're particularly expensive), but I can guarantee you'll get a good chunk of people buying a pass for every session. Or you run the risk of having a sold out large senior finals session and NOBODY there for other divisions. They'll have to be very careful about how they handle that. It could be great in terms of preventing overcrowding, but it might very well also discourage a lot of people from attending if they're not careful. And they DEFINITELY don't want that. It depends on the price and timing issues.

For people talking about Worlds usually overlapping with their college exams, take a look at the dates. This is one week prior to when World's was held this year and the year before. The past 2 years I have had to reschedule exams to go since it has been the a week later. Now that it's back a week, I am just finishing classes. That odd Monday is actually my last day of classes. I'm more likely to save up my absences and go and miss classes than miss exams.

All that being said, the Monday is still a dumb idea. I like the weekend better because it works for me personally, but I'm a firm believer that they should never FORCE kids to miss school to compete in an extracurricular.

So that eliminates the teams from other countries and it would be no different then NCA so why hold the competition at all? The top teams in the International division have just as much of a right to be there as the teams who place at the bottom of their division and don't make it past day 1.

Fair point. However, the Over-18s should be held in a seperate venue from the Milkhouse and allow all the primary level 5 teams compete in the Milkhouse both days. It'll still be a worlds event but all the primary teams cheer and get TV time in the Milkhouse. You could also put TV cameras in both venues and can find a way to spend TV time on both levels.

In my opinion, the International teams deserve to be in the Milkhouse over the other divisions for the sheer fact that teams from outside the US spend a heck of a lot more money to get over here then the US teams. What is premier to one person isn't premier to someone else. To me IOC 5 is more premier then a few of the senior 5 divisions.
Personally, I don't know what venue anywhere would really work. No matter where you go you will need multiple stages to accommodate every division. And some stage/venue will be hosting the 'hottest' divisions which means that stage/venture/stadium will be the most crowded no matter what you do... A venue large enough to accommodate everyone would be so big that you wouldn't really be able to see well, right?

I am glad that you said this because I have thought the same thing for a while but thought I was alone. Even if a new venue is used multiple stages will need to be used for the competition will run extremely late. Those fans that didn't move in the Milkhouse still won't move in the new venue. Sure there may be more seats so the overcrowding won't be bad, but it will still remain more crowded in one hall then the other. Like at NCA, people camp out in the arena and don't go anywhere else to watch the lower levels. If they get a good seat in the hall that has specific divisions they will remain there all day.

...

I agree with much of what is being said, I was in Doral, one big thing I took away was "don't talk about it, be about it" meaning don't just come on the boards and complain, make your complaint KNOWN to those that can make a difference. If you HATE the Monday competition, please, please, please e-mail the crap out of the USASF and let them know. Other concerns please continue to e-mail.

I think the boards is a great place to compile information and discuss ideas but the boards do NOT make the changes, so please contact the appropriate people (as well as the boards ;))!!!

I would be happy to send an email to someone at USASF. Is there a point person for this topic / issue?

I agree that the boards are a great place for discussion. There is so much knowledge here, and I love reading threads that truly discuss a problem and solutions. Perhaps USASF needs a designated "Fierceboard Discussion Moderator" to come on here and participate in and moderate some of the discussions.

I wish there was something that said 'If you have such-and-such issue, email X. If you have such-and-such-other-issue, email Y.' I'm more than happy to email, I just don't know who? Just mass email everyone? (Can't ignore me that way ;) )

I know that they say to e-mail them with issues and that they listen or take it into consideration, but that is hard to believe after the past few weeks I have had with them. Will they really listen and take what people have to say into consideration or will they ignore it?

Steve Peterson was the one speaking on the topic, I would contact him.

A well-thought out email with suggestions to improve the event will be much more well-received than a long-winded rant demanding a response from every member of the corporate office. Short, unemotional, and to the point would be preferred.

Repeat for emphasis: Offer a solution - don't just gripe about something you didn't like. Explain why your way would help the overall industry more than the way they are currently doing it.

I'm sorry, can somebody explain how moving the ICU to Monday will prevent overcrowding during the club divisions on Sunday? National teams either arrive well in advance of the event to combat jetlag or they are compete with their club teams and then their country. Those athletes, parents and fans will still be at the event.
