Somehow I was given the responsibility of writing the cheer for this year. My first time writing something other than a voiceover. We are tying to ignore as many cliche's as possible. I have this written any tips on improving would help, and it needs to be longer as well.

Our rstyle you want it
Our skills you cant believe
Stronger than before
Its all about the green!
You name we’ve won it
You claim it we’ve earned it

A couple questions:
- Is this a competition cheer? If so, where will you be competing it at?(different companies have their own styles and the scoresheets will want certain things)
-How long does this cheer have to be? (check the scoresheet)
-What are your school colors/mascot/etc.? (so the rest of us can help with verses if you want)
-Can you give a couple examples of "cliches" so we know what to avoid?

If we have more info, I think the board will be able to assist you better.

As for critiques, I'd be careful with the cheer sounding too"cocky"....At some competitions it will work against you to have a cheer that gives off the impression of not being humble so to speak. When a team talks about how great they are or kind of puts another team down (we've won it all, we're better than all of you, your team will lose so watch and learn), some judges will not look kindly on that. I guess what I'm trying to get across is that you want to sound confident (we're here to shine and will prove it to you) vs. cocky (we have already won, everyone else is jealous of us). You can get away with being more cocky in allstars but usually not so much for school comps;)

Let me know if you want help with all of this, because I love brainstorming for this sort of stuff!

I love writing cheers. I'm assuming (based on FAME) that this is a VA high school, so a 1 minute cheer. Make sure you stick with the rhyme scheme.

Our rstyle you want it A
Our skills you cant believe B
Stronger than before C
Its all about the green! B

You name we’ve won it
You claim it we’ve earned it

The bold is good, you have an ABCB rhyme scheme where the 2nd and forth verses rhyme. But then you switch over to an AA rhyme scheme. If you do that, it will kill the flow. I understand the "cliches" you're trying to avoid. Stuff like "we're back and we're better" etc. You want to get creative words in there on lines A and C because they don't have to rhyme with anything. here are a couple stanzas to get you going.

You may have heard the rumors
We assure you that they're true
(High school name here)
is coming after you!

Our style, you want it
Our skills you can't believe
Stringer than before,
It's all about the green

If you think you can stop us
We suggest you think again
Cause the (School name, Mascots)
Are in this, to win

There's no other who can do it
Like the (color, color, white)
(____-H-S)
Will wear the crown tonight

Green Gold
Bruins
Bethel
This is a competitive squad tryout cheer and will most likely end up as the actual cheer. We are trying to avoid the stronger than before, were the best, or number one etc. The style of cheering is hear is a little more agressive than some states lol. I will take ANY help lol.

Hey Guys i posted my own thread sorry. but if anyone can help.
my colors are Cardinal Gold and white
Roosevelt High School
Mascot Rough Riders
Riders for short.

This should be around :30 (I tried to keep it short) and is wordy for the first part, but breaks out into crowdleading for the end..... That end part could always be modified though to one more verse of wordy cheer if desired.

R(x) H-S
Roosevelt, that’s Right!
We won’t be stopped
In the Cardinal, Gold and White.

So Ri-ders, cheer with us (x)
Shout from the crowd
For two –thousand twelve
It’s our time now!
(use signs in preps, etc. to crowdlead maybe after this part)
Yell R (2,3,4)
H (2,3,4)
S (2,3,4)
Ri-ders, the best!
(yell with us!)
R (2,3,4)
H (2,3,4)
S (2,3,4)
Ri-ders, the best! (make “the best” in a higher/excited voice to end)

youve met my indecisive needs<3 thank youuu! <3

You guys are awesome!! Here is one for you:

I'm looking for a competition style 45sec to 1 min cheer. It is more NCA style than UCA meaning that there isn't a lot of crowd participation and more like a story. Colors are Black, Purple, and Teal. Name is Competitive Edge Cheer and mascot is Cats. This is for a rec team. And go! :)
