How does everyone wear their uniforms for bball cheer? This year for some reason some squad members want to keep wearing long sleeves under the shells even though it gets really hot cheering inside, the gym really holds the heat. Last year we almost never wore bodyliners. As co-capt. I haven't really discussed it with everyone yet, but my coach said if they all want to wear sleeves we will have to just wear one uniform all season since the only bodyliner we have just matches one shell. The others don't have the same striping or design pattern. No $$ in the budget to get others either.

If you cheer HS or MS/JH what does your squad do??

The team I coach has a game uniform including body liner and a separate competition one. The girls wear their body liners to every game but we are in New England and it does stay pretty cold in our old gym. If its a big game they may wear their comp uniforms just to change things a little bit

Why not just compromise? Some days wear the uniform with the body liner, some days wear it without it, some days wear a different uniform. Make a calendar and assign what uniform will be worn to certain games, and everyone is happy! :)

Thats a good idea, I'll bring it up to the girls. Personally i'd rather not wear them but thats just my view. I'll do what the rest of the squad wants.

We always wore our bodysuits in high school. I don't think my coach ever thought of doing otherwise.

We don't wear them, thank god. We have a really new school from like 2000, but its sinking (built on a swamp..don't get me started oh man) and most the school is cold, but our gym is always so nice. I sweat in our gym hah i prefer without as well..

I don't like wearing them for basketball or gym cheering either. What style liners do you use, the full or half?

The only reason we dont wear them is because not everyone has them. Kae said that as soon as we all get them we are going to wear them. Personally I think we look alot sharper with them on but i agree it does get really hot!

We wear them... Because it's winter I guess? Personally I think sleeves always make motions look better, but they are really hot.... It's awful in our gym - it starts fine but as the game goes on it gets SO hot! especially varsity boys games because we get a huge crowd. But I wouldn't want to be wearing it w/o to school all day...

I cheer JV basketball and even when the gym is mostly empty (which is how it is for our games..) It still gets really hot, and we don't wear liners! But if your team members are insistent upon wearing them, maybe a compromise is needed. Like wearing them every other game?

Cheering the games i prefer without a shell just because it gets hot when you're jumping and stunting and tumbling for 2 games straight. They do look better if we are doing a half-time performance though, so it really depends on the day. we have 3 uniforms and only 1 doesn't have a body liner because we can't find one that looks good with the one shoulder. Also, i've sat out the last couple of games and i think the shell looks better when they're cheering in it... makes motions look cleaner, etc.

We wore bodyliners last night to our basketball game, and about 20 minutes in we wanted to take them off. We took them off after our halftime cheer, much better. THey had the heat cranked WAY up in the gym last night, or it could've been the crowd.

We have matching liners that are halfs, then we also have plain black liners that are much thinner. I agree it may get warm, but looking good triumphs comfort sometimes.

which is better? full or half? I have the full leotard style ones now but some girls are using their own $$$ to buy a crop version, which our AD is fine with (not the school's funds and it matches just the same!). The girls said I could get in on the order with them, it'll make it cheaper for everyone. I think the full style is uncomfy, but whats so great about the crop type?
