So I searched for a thread about this and couldn't find one. I myself, am a ex all star cheerleader, and I know there are a lot of people on here who are no longer involved in All Star, but still follow and love the sport. Just want to make a thread dedicated to those who no longer compete in All Star Cheer, but are still in love with the sport.

I miss putting on my half top most, my super big bow, and voiceovers.

And they wear them backwards too. But I just started liking the way they were them, it seems southern to me for some reason. :p

lol about the bows to practice...I'm on a university team too and no one wears them but me! We have to take the subway to the gym we practice in and when I forget to take it out after practice, I definitely get some weird stares!

Something I also miss about all-stars is cheer moms! My mom was never really into cheer, but I always had the best team moms who would bring us treats, plan pool parties, make us team bows, and just be at every practice and competition, being our biggest fan :)

I miss wearing my bows to practice. To you get to college and all your teammates look at you funny when you wear a bow. Oh well they are letting me make the nationals bow and its a 3in white bow. Yay!!

Everyone is all "why do you girls wear bows" And we were voting on what to buy to wear in our hair for games, bows (smaller sized) or ribbon, everyone wanted ribbon.

I'm not an ex all star cheerleader, but I've always followed it, a competitive high school cheerleader though

So true! I'm transforming them though. Because of me we all have fabulous new 3 in bows for Packer games. I consider it a personal victory. I can tell my coach is clearly "Team Bow" as me and my friend like to say. Working hard on converting the "Team Ribbon" girls away from the dark side.

I miss everything about it, the good and the bad. I miss the competitions. The feeling you have before you go on the mat. The feeling of hitting your routine. I miss that amazing moment when your team is finally called for first place. I miss waking up early and going to competitions, and the craziness that ensued.

I miss being yelled at by my coach. I miss the amazing feeling you have when you finally get over a mental block. I miss the bond I had with my teammates, they were like my brothers and sisters. I miss how my coaches were who I could turn to whenever I needed help with anything.

This list could go on forever. I miss everything about allstar cheerleading. Before I got injured, I took cheerleading for granted. I always heard how stuff happened to people and they had to quit. However, I never thought that it would happen to me. I will say this, always be thankful that you can do what you can. Cherish every moment- the good and the bad. You never know when something could happen.

Awww... the bow thing to me is so sad. Our gym/staff runs the local university's Club Cheer team, and they all wear big bows. Sorry ladies :(

Do you get to cheer playoff games too?

I cheer in college as well... I still wear bows every practice and after being on the team for three years now I get questioned every time i forget one. I do miss having a crop top and being able to wear glitter and have big hair. I don't care for the collegiate image :(

the sammeeeee way! Always wear my bows to practice! Always! I have like 40 and noone else wears them. I also gained a little victory about the "collegiate image".... I am influincing them to wear glitter... OH DEAR! ;)

There is nothing about cheering that I don't miss. The blue mat, the feeling that tiny second before the music starts, the sight of my coach jumping like crazy for us, the circle we did before competing encouraging each other, wearing my infinities (that I still won't get rid of), wearing bows I miss a lot, being out of breath for 2:30 just for that second after when you know you hit and did all you can do, getting up early for comps doing hair and makeup, traveling to competitions, the actual competitors and taking in their routines. I was always a person who paid a lot of attention to everyone competing. I miss it more than anything in the world and I'm sad I didn't start younger so I had more time. The bond you have with teammates is special and I know I won't find things like that elsewhere. 6 years is not enough at FCA (two prior at a lesser known gym).

id say i miss the competitions the most. i miss being busy with cheerleading, always being at the gym for practice or tumbling.

I am the only AS cheerleader, or ex AS cheerleader on my school team. Most girls who cheer in my county don't do AS because there are no gyms. I miss having a practice to go to, where I had a different set of friends. A place where no one knows about how much school sucked for me. Where I know I will have someone to talk to. A place where I can be with people who love what I love. I miss saying "Can't do it, I have a competition" Getting dressed and walking around like a million bucks. Being apart of something bigger than me. Spending summer days in the gym. My coaches who have impacted me so much and I still qoute. All Stars seriously saved me, at a dark time and I hate that I don't have it anymore because of personal reasons. However, I do believe that it was in my life when I needed it most, so I am forever thankful.
