All kidding aside I do know what you mean. I think that's a grey area that I have seen done this way: middle prep bracing two extended sides with another middle prep behind the first. The back middle prep just TOUCHES the hands of the extended sides while they are bracing the middle and the sides do stuff they normally can only do with two bracers. The rule doesn't say it has to be on both sides so they get away with it. I've seen it done at level 1 (extended outside stunts) and level 4 (outside flips)

That's interesting, I've never seen that done either, will have to bear it in mind! Not sure whether I explained myself correctly the first time... Imagine 1 prep in the centre, with 4 prep libs around it, one in each corner of that centre prep stunt group. If each of those prep libs could grab a bit of arm of the 1 girl in prep (2 feet), could they all push up to extension lib at the same time?

This is actually really difficult to explain... So here's a rubbish diagram :p

L,,,,,, L

please ignore the commas, couldn't get the spacing to stay wih just spaces!

If all the "L"s (currently in prep lib) could grab part of an arm of "P" (always in two foot prep), can all the "L"s push up to extension lib at the same time?

As some of you may or may not know I am from Scotland in the UK (right at the very top of Scotland actually ;) ) and being where I'm from I have literally no access to a cheer team that isn't about 5 hours away! Cheerleading isn't big in Scotland at alllll :( If I had the opportunity to do it I would have loved to!
I have always been interested in sports (I'm a national champion hurdler and sprinter) and coaching and it is what I am hoping to do at University. If I am able to complete my degree in coaching my ultimate goal is to move out to America and coach at a dance/gymnastics/cheer facility. I am really interested in the strength and conditioning side of cheer and dance.
My question is - would a gym ever employ someone like me who has absolutely no experience (other than being a fan!) in cheerleading? It has always been my dream, but I also know to be realistic and me having no experience of being a cheerleader could stop my dream in its tracks! Having 3 younger siblings I'm great with kids, I've coached other sports before and I'm a really enthusiastic person however would my lack of participation in cheer stop me from being employed?
Thank you, and sorry for such a long comment!

Idk if that is legal but I get it. I'd ask Andre or les Stella

Maybe you should get a background in tumbling/gymnastics and dance. If possible, acro might help, too. Then, when you come here work w/some cheerleading teams as a tumbling and/or dance coach. From there, shadow stunting and move up to being a head coach.

I have to do acro a lot for athletics and can pull basic heel stretches, scorps and scales so I have a bit of background in this. I'm on my school gymnastics team so this would help me too (we're very basic, but its a start!) Thank you SO much for your help!

In L4 the rules specify:
Braced flips must be braced on two separate sides (i.e. right side-left side, left side -back side, etc…) by two separate bracers. (Example: two bracers on the same arm will no longer be permitted) A top person must be braced on 2 of the 4 sides (front, back, right, left) of her/his body.

I didn't see the specification in pyramid rules in any other level, so it seems like it should be OK in L2.

Whereabouts in Scotland are you based? I know scottish_cheerleader knows a fair amount about cheer in Scotland- she may be able to put you in contact with a team near you, or maybe even someone who travels a bit further for a team who you could share lifts with?

Thanks! I knew that L4 rule myself bc we looked it up this summer but the coach of the team that did it insisted they had it verified as legal so I was like "Hokay" and moved on.

Idk if it´s legal either, but it depends on how exactly the rule is written down. Our rules say you have to have hand to hand contact (like holding hands or holding each others wrist). It would be difficult for the prep girl to hold hands with two girls on one hand. But if it´s not clear how the contact has to be (the liberty flyer could grab the prep girls arm somewhere), it could be legal. But still, i don´t know, better ask someone official about this.

Ren tagged me.

cheer is MASSIVE in scotland !! there are even teams out on the islands!!

i know of the majority of teams in scotland and my old coach runs a competition company so if there are new teams since i retired she would be able to help out.

Where abouts in scotland are you from? my old team is from just outside Glasgow but i currently live in Dunfermline. I am working at a competition in Edinburgh this weekend so if you can get back to me before then i can have an ask around to try help you find a team.

My other suggestion would be to look at the courses, clinics and camps run in the UK every year where you will be able to get experience, make contacts and see whether the reality of coaching cheer is really for you :)

Can anyone explain the whole Force situation? I am seeing all over the cheerternet that legend katz are going to worlds as Fierce LK. How did they get a bid? will OC have to get another bid if they want to go to worlds? that means both teams will have to make new routine a month before worlds? And have these parents bought new unis just for half sesason??

I probably should have phrased what I was saying a bit better - there are a couple of teams near me that I know of but they all practice on days where I have athletics and I chose to stay focussed on that for this year (the next closest city is about 4 hours away). Active Cheer and Dance used to do classes near me but they had to close since they didn't have enough people signing up. I'm hoping to be moving to Edinburgh for university either in September this year or September next year so a team in that area would be great if you can find me one!

okay this is both a comment and a question.. to start off i searched as far back as it went to see if this was a discussion and couldnt find anything. With maryland marlins at worlds 2011, I couldnt help but notice on day 1, brea was wearing a knee brace. On day two when she tore her acl, she wasnt wearing it. The injured knee was the one she had a brace on the day before. does anyone know brea or know why she competed day 2 without it? I have always been extremely curious!
I don't know brea, but I can tell you that the brace she wore on day 1 wouldnt have prevented tearing her acl! In fact, when I retore my acl my surgeon said an ACL brace wouldnt have prevented it. Obviously, she had been having some sort of issue so she possibly could have partially torn it and was trying to fight through it. She may have stopped wearing it simply because it didnt help the pain on day 1
Hi I'm Brea! Like Alex said, my doctor said that brace wouldn't have prevented it from tearing. When an ACL tears, there's pretty much no stopping it. To the reason that I wore it on day 1 and not day 2, is I really don't know to tell you the truth lol. I was having problems with that knee already and we found out later after I tore my ACL that my meniscus was partially torn. Before we went on the floor I just remember taking off the brace because I knew it would not help anything and I felt it was just weighing me down a bit. Hope this helps for your curiosity :)

There are LOADS of cheer teams in the Edinburgh area it just depends what level you are looking for and if the dance side interests you too!
There is Cheer Evolution, USC, EC Allsteps, ECDA, edinburgh uni have their own team called the vixens

So my question is following:

What do you do to prepare your teams going into Worlds?
With the deduction rule....like do you practise "not waving" while walking into the mat or do you just tell them walk to like soldiers when the days comes?..
