We booked this way w/out really knowing what we were doing for our comp in Atlanta as we were told that all the hotels would be booked solid and if we didn't we wouldn't get a room. We ended up getting a room @ that awful Marriott with the glass elevators. It was NOT w/in walking distance of the venue so we had the added expense of taxis daily. Our room rate was $150 per night. My husband almost died as he has Marriott points we could have used to pay for this. In fact we decided to come in a day early and added on an extra day and used points for it and to add insult to injury found out the points rate was HALF the amount of points it would have usually been!!! When I was complaining to him about the distance to the venue he found an Embassy Suites that was literally just cattacorner from the Omni that we could have transferred to for points!! We would have too if we could have gotten a refund on the $600 we had already dropped at the Marriott. The thing that irritated my husband the most was how it was represented that there was zero availability unless we booked through this housing yet the truth was not only could we have stayed at the hotel we were at on points but we could have stayed in a much roomier facility that was substantially closer on points as well!!!

We are seeing this "requirement" more and more. NCA and CANAM were both "stay and play" comps this year. One reason why they do this, is to guarantee that their athletes have places to stay. In cities where there are a lot of conventions this is important. If there is no where to stay, or if the prices are too high, gyms won't come or will pull out. It has been that way for many years for large conferences. It is just starting to be a trend for cheer.

Canam was? I don't think I know anyone that "stayed," but the teams still "played."

Luckily we are close enough to commute this weekend so I don't have to deal with it. :) When the Sr3 coed from Avon hits the floor my CP's are the largest boy and the littlest flyer. I'll be the one screaming my lungs out for them in black, blue, blonde and bling!!! :)

Well, there are a ton of Fame teams here so I'm not sure! What division?
I looked you up. Your in the big leagues. My kiddo's highest team is Sm Sr coed 3. :) We left for dinner since we have to report @ 8:15 but I hope to watch the L5 teams mañana. We love watching and seeing what we (cross fingers) have to look forward to in a couple of years :)

I have a level 2 also! At this rate, my 9-year-old will perform at 2am...
Stay level 3. It's WAY more rewarding. You save on liquid and pharmaceutical anti-anxiety assistance, too.

Lol!! My daughter just turned 11 and she and her 15 yr old brother are both on our Sr 3 coed and she doubles on our Sr 2as well. Her Sr 2 is the LAST team to compete tonight!! I'm thinking I should have brought some camping gear!!!
