Sea to Sky: Perfect Storm Inferno IO6, Absolute Icons IO6, Prairie Fire IOCE 6, RCA Smoke IO 5 (Partial Paid), and Bids for 2014: VAS Black Ice CE 5 and Ice Queens IOAG 5. I hope I got them all!! Congratulations everyone!! :)

How did they get bids to the 2014 Worlds with their 2013 team? A lot can change in one season and I find it somewhat bizarre that you can get a bid to the 2014 worlds BEFORE the 2013 worlds....

I thought that was weird too, i didnt think you could defer a bid if you already had a partial paid.

Sea to Sky is too close to Worlds already. We began deferring Bids back in 2010. however, to exasperate our current situation, Spring Break is not announced in BC until Feb of each year. Yet, booking a venue requires 3-4 years notice to lock in your dates. As an event, we have decided to move another week later permanently. Easter in 2015 will mean even another week back.

The USASF feels that we are too close to Worlds as they require more time to input information, do the lottery and prepare schedules and get organized... makes sense. International Event Producers are allowed to give bids 14 months out from Worlds. Europe and Asia have been doing this for years. Canada is IASF. I worked with the USASF to transition into being the FIRST WORLDS BIDS Event in Canada beginning next year. However, BC only has 2 other Bids in total to award next season if we become a 2015 Bid Event.

Therefore, for this year's event, a maximum of 2 of the 6 Bids were set aside for Teams that already had their 2013 Bids. Three teams were in the running: VAS IO5, VAS IOC5 and Absolute IOC6.

Sea to Sky actually only awarded 5 out of their 6 IASF BIDS. Hence, no one scoring in the "worlds range" was not awarded a bid or "robbed" of a Bid due to this decision. This allows the Valley Stars Competition to still have 2 Bids for teams needing Bids for 2014 and Sea to Sky is transitioning for one more year meaning, at next year's event you can still go for a 2014 Bid.

LASTLY> There is a 90% chance (just making a final decision at our upcoming directors' meeting)... Sea to Sky will award ONE FULL PAID and ONE Partial and 6 At Larges at Sea to Sky 2014. So, everyone should come and get their Bids for 2015!!... Put us on your Schedule!! Wasn't it about time someone in Canada gave out a FULL PAID BID?????

Sea to Sky was a great experience, thank you for the obvious time, care and concern that had been put into the event!

I'm curious how the deferred bids work for team rosters... Does the team need to retain a certain amount of athletes that were on the bid-winning team? Would the bid only apply if the same division is maintained for the next year? Not being critical at all, just genuinely curious.

Thanks again!

That reply was a huge fail... try again:
Answer: International Teams have different Rules. I'm not sure why... mostly because the International World isn't ready for the same stipulations and Canada falls under "International". All I know is that because of this, as long as you defer in the same division, the following year's roster (even if it changes) will still be accepted. The Division is not changeable.

When you think of it.. I know American Teams that got their Bids early in the season and have very different rosters now.... they pick up people later in the season (I'm sure it's all legit) and as Canadians, how many new people are we actually adding every year? US Teams can add something like 10 kids that competed from their gym on any other team at the same event... Are we doing anything different? Are there even 10 L5/6 kicking around anyone's gym in Canada that are waiting to make a L5/6 team? lol - maybe that's why the rules for International Teams are just not in the same place as the usasf teams yet ???

How did this work, as I was under the impression that "World's Range" was 86% or higher, but several teams received bids with a lower score. Do I have the numbers wrong?? Anyway, with the move of dates next year, I think awarding deferred bids was a smart thing to do this year. And fingers crossed for a Full Paid bid next year!! I've always loved competing at Sea to Sky and it's great to see us getting some recognition up here. I wish we could have gone again this year. Great job Liz and GForce/VAS!! :)

Well I'm ready to go, look for the most sparkle covered (I mean covered) purple rhinestones, blinged out bow covered backpack ever, attached to a tanned curly haired girl with a poof, that'll be me....or just look for a Cayman Islands flag attached to the bag. LOL!

Where's everybody staying? I'm in sports.

From what I'm hearing, there will be a HUGE push from Canadian gym owners for full paid bids in the coming 1-2 seasons at the various other bid competitions.

"Full paids" technically wouldn't even cover half of what it costs a Canadian team to go to worlds though... So technically they would be partial paids with a little more money and lottery benefits of being drawn last.
