I could not find a thread about ICU worlds, but pleas tell me if I just missed it:)

This is my guess for the Coed premiere division:
1. USA
2. Chinese Taipei
3. Canada
4. Costa Rica
5. Puerto Rico
6. Germany
7. Finland
8. Norway
9. Ecuador
10. Chile
11. China
12. Mexico
13. Sweden

I like that Canada is in the Premiere division and not Elite.

The all girl division will be exciting to watch. I think Team Norway will give Team USA a real challenge :p

I don't know..maybe it's up to each country to decide where they belong? (I have seen teams in premiere that i personal think should compete in elite and opposite..)

What makes a team premier vs being elite?

Premier = Level 6, Elite = Level 5.

In Germany, they do tryouts for their Premier teams (as they only offer Senior Level 6 in Germany). The teams that compete as Elite at the ICU are the National Champs in their Junior Level 4 (which equates to a USASF Level 5).

Canada is competing in Elite AND Premier this year.

Oh, I thought she meant how they decide in what category the should compete:p

Cool! I haven't looked at the Elite performance order yet so I didn't know:p I haven't thought about the fact that a country could send two teams. Why don't USA have a Elite team?

My assumption is that the Premier team is mostly comprised of college cheerleaders who already compete Level 6.

And there's no real equivalent of college Level 5. Here, you could field amazing Senior Allstar cheerleaders, but they most likely would be competing with their own team at USASF/IASF and it would be more difficult for them to meet for these extra practices.

True, but if they didn't have a tryout like Team USA premiere..they could send an already existing team. Just choose a competition...the winner could represent team usa elite on icu. Sure, maybe they would have to compete twice, but a lot of international team compete both icu and usasf/iasf.. The hard part would be to choose that team, since there is no true national championship..

An idea, yes...but it's easier for international teams to do this because their system is completely different than in the US...

In a large part of Europe, those teams only compete at maybe 1-3 competitions a year. In Germany you have Regionals and Nationals...and Nationals only if you qualify. I'm not 100% positive, but I think it's the same in Norway and Sweden, as well as other countries. Other than those, a team may go to what are considered "open" competitions - open in the sense that any team no matter where they are from or what governing organization they belong to can participate and compete. In Germany, you get a bid for the IASF/USASF through one of these open competitions, Elite Cheerleading Championship organized by Elite Cheerleading.

As for the US picking a team - how would you go about picking a team? What EP should decide what team goes? Or should the USASF/IASF winner in a certain category be automatically qualified to compete as Team USA Elite? It's far more complicated.

I know.. I wouldn't want to have only 1-3 comps a year, but there is a downside to the US system.. I have no idea how to choose from all competitions, but i don't think it's impossible. Maybe a separate comp, you could send in videos and someone (next problem: who?) would choose the team they thought best would represent usa.

I've always wondered why the USA doesnt field elite teams :s Premier has tryouts at a gym from athletes all over the country, why cant they do that for an Elite team?

Canada is sending teams in ever division. They do their tryouts through video submission, then get together over Easter weekend to train at the gym with the most athletes on the team/the gym closest to majority of athletes. Then they train again in Florida for the few days leading up to ICU, then stay for the weekend to compete with their All-star teams

Isn't Team USA Dance picked by team video submissions?
