All-Star After The 2013 Worlds, Trends I Would Like To See Die Fast....ok Go!

This is like if someone could waive their magic wand right?

1. The venue, not a fan of theme parks. Move it to Vegas no humidity, practice, everything can be indoors nice and cool, even all in one Venue. Great security, LOTS of free stuff to do. Great hotels with separate pools for over and under 21. Not Sin City (well it can be if thats what you want)

2. Bad Sportsmanship, It has gotten out of control, you cant only be happy with first place. The look on some peoples faces during awards, so bad. Your personal best should count for something.

3. Giant Hair

4. The Stomp

5. Problems with live feeds, NCA wins the Gold for live streaming

I'll never forget 2012 when they were begging people to give up seats. We were sitting 4 deep on laps and people were missing their kids and the VIPs were just chatting it up with leg room and empty seats on either side.
Okay, I have never been to Worlds (though I still have hope that one of my CPs will make it one day), who all gets to sit in the VIP section and what identification are they required to have for verification?

Ditto on the big hair...I don't mind a nice poof in the front but it has become a competition to see which gym can jack their hair to Jesus the best. Also it looks ridiculous on the smaller kids who end up looking like their hair is bigger than their own heads.
Teams that stacked with 12 year old flyers and then super senior bases. I honestly feel that the age eligibility for Worlds should be 14 and up. I'm sure the younger kids LOVE going but now we have Summit. And I don't feel like these kids get the true team experience when they go. One of cp's friends kept texting her pictures of herself alone around the magic Kingdom and when cp asked where the rest of the team was she said "I don't know, all the big kids left without me..."
To many at large bids, to many small coed/senior teams, it was like a death march to get through them all...I can't imagine what it was like for the people there. How about the at-large winners have to send in a video for prelims (like Junior's last year) and then top 10-15 actually get to come to the Big Show.
People saying a team "deserves" to win because they have "been through so much this year", I'm pretty sure all the teams can say getting to Worlds is an uphill climb....
Bad sportsmanship. I have never seen so many kids unhappy with silver or bronze. There is only 9 gold medal winners, everyone can't get one. The fact that you were one of the top 3 in the world is a huge accomplishment. There were teams celebrating because they made it past prelims...get it in perspective kids.
I pulled a muscle I shimmied this so hard ;)

I'm still shocked and suprised by the bad sportsmanship by some of these teams... it still continues. Your awards were 2 days ago, please let it go, your complaining, Re-tweeting fan comments and rude comments about the winning team is NOT going to change the outcome.

EP's, USASF staff and board, vendor's, I would assume any guest's invited by USASF and coaches maybe. They made announcements that the only people allowed in there were those wearing orange and green lanyards. I don't know what the distinction between the colors were though. So much prime property in the milkhouse gone to waste!

I think it's EP's and some other people. My friends dad has a competition company and they got to sit there last year. They gym closest to me also just won small gym of the year award and I'm almost positive they were in the VIP section.

To add to this, teams from other gyms eliminated in prelims or not advancing to finals - tweeting and posting negatively about teams in the finals.

Another trend that needs to die:

Having at least 10 cheer-twitters at Disney and not one of them feels the need to tweet about non-US teams. There were almost whole division that didn't get any or only very few tweets.
This made me seriously mad. The US teams in the same divisions got tweets and the other teams were just ignored. When you're sitting in the venue anyway because the non US-teams go between other more popular divisions - how hard is it to write a tweet about them?
There were non-US-teams that medaled ahead of US teams that didn't get one mention on twitter before awards. That is just sad and shows more about those cheer-twitters than I ever wanted to know.

Special thanks to mishtm52 who updated about non-US teams in the worlds thread.

A trend that people are complaining about that I hope DOESN'T change.
I hope they continue giving out tons of bids. There is a prelim, semi final and final. For MANY programs making it to Worlds is HUGE. If you don't want to see them there is a schedule so feel free to only attend the time slots of either the teams or divisions you want to see.

I completely agree with this! Champion Cheer Heat went on an AL bid in SS and placed 5th IN THE WORLD!! Thank you very much. (FYI - my kids don't cheer there)

I know it has been frequently mentioned, and although I don't see it changing any time soon, the amount of at large bids given. It's gotten absolutely ridiculous. Looking at Saturday's schedule I was just in awe of the amount of teams that had paid all that money to travel to Worlds and only 10 would be able to compete Sunday! I think it's gotten out of hand.

Backspots spending a million years to turn and smile at the crowd before kick double baskets. just get there and throw it, and add those 4 counts you just saved to your dance/pyramid.
People claiming "favoritism" of certain gyms
Giant poofs/ponies. I don't mind a poof but some of these are bigger than people's heads and block bows.... to a point where it's not even cute
Half up/half down hair. Sorry I cant see your flyer's face because her hair is flying around everywhere.... and I'm always worried someone is going to step on it/put a hand on it in tumbling. I just think it looks so bad when doing kick doubles/double downs/full ups/tumbling and I wish everyone would put their hair up!
Broken wrists
When a prominent (center, front row, etc) jumper can't/doesn't (for whatever reason) triple-toe-full or triple-toe-tuck so they do a double toe touch and then stand before the tuck/full... like if they're going to do that put them in the back, you look silly
