I've seen a lot of positive commentary from the Summit. I'd like to hear from the people who attended, and/or those who declined bids, your reflections about the weekend and any recommendations either to future producers or attendees.

Switch Worlds and Summit, and you would create the greatest week of cheerleading ever. The only thing about Summit being a week afterwards is I can tell outside of the teams competing, everyone is kinda over the year.

But the Summit on a weekend, ICU during the week, and the Worlds ending the next weekend would be the ultimate culmination for everyones season.

Our head coach was very impressed.
He said it was the best competition. We will definitely be going again next year. We are also going to UCA Disney as well. So they like it enough obviously that they don't mind us going twice in one season.

He really enjoyed the level of competition. Being in a division with 28 teams was awesome as well. He felt like there were some great competition in there and it's worth it. We will definitely be going back to get more Summit titles!!

Looks like it will be a new tradition of ours!!

I absolutely agree with this 100%

It was so exciting to me to see Twitter blowing up with tweets from Cheer Updates, etc about teams other than just level 5 Senior! I'm so glad that there's a fun, bid only comp at Disney that has the same feel as Worlds! Face it...every CP won't go to Worlds. I'm glad there's an incentive comp at Disney at the end of the season for everyone else to work for that can provide a similar experience for the kids that may never achieve level 5 Senior.

So, lets reflect on that. If you were there, did it appear these were non-worlds athletes or did there appear to be crossovers from the previous weekend? If so, how much and what's your opinion on that?

I don't like the idea of the summit for two reasons. First, it's after worlds and the biggest comp should be the last. Second, it's in orlando and just like worlds it makes it hard for gyms on the west coast to get to. Even though one of our teams got a full paid bid they didn't go because as we all know its really not fully paid.

I respectfully disagree. I want kids to want to reach the highest level and if they can go to disney on a level 2 team, why bother going for level 5. its just a sign of the times, more people want without working for it. jmo

Well ill have to respectfully disagree with you as well. In my case, I started cheer later than most and I will be finishing my cheer career on a level 3 team. I work just as hard, if not harder than some level 5 athletes, but due to time, fear, etc, I will never make it to level 5. Some people just will not. So it's nice to have a true, competitive year end comp for us lower levels.

I completely agree.Years ago we all worked so hard to be on level 5 and it bothers me that there is this comp in Orlando at the same place as worlds. When I first went to worlds it was really special and to be honest thats why I don't like any of the other comps other than worlds to be there.

i really love the whole concept of this, but the timing of it and the expense make it hard. some people have suggested making this your big comp on your schedule but what if you dont get a bid. our sport is sooo expensive to begin with, and at our gym we try to make it as affordable as possible, while still attending big nationals. i just wish there was another way.....
