Thou shalt relax and realize that in 10 years, no one will care about what team your child was on. The rest of the world does not care about who won World's or _________ Nationals. The rest of the world does care about what type of person your child turns out to be, how they treat those around them, and how they cope with situations that do not go their way. Your kids are watching you and how you deal with try outs too. Be the one to set a good example, be nice to those around you, don't trash talk other kids, relax a little bit, and just try to be that parent that coaches and other parents want to be around.

Love it! I knew you would have good stuff to add.;) So true and so important!

Arg, I wish I could print this off and personally hand it to some parents. I had to say good-bye to a crying CP yesterday because mom wants her to fly on X team at X gym but CP doesn't want to leave :(

That gym is going to have a lot of "flyers" at tryouts. Just guessing. ;)

Thou shalt not get caught coaching your friend's kid who was on J1 and 13 last year and dying for that BHS and so frustrated and so so close and good friend mom and I are staring through the window talking about it. Using her back only, then deep squat and no push with legs. Mom calls her over, we tell her to use her legs. She goes next time, we're giving her thumbs up, waving and I kind of look past kid to see a few coaches taking notice of the spectacle. I said, uh, we're not supposed to attempt to coach period. I know better on my own kid but, man, she's so close and they weren't paying us any attention a few minutes ago. Sorry, sorry, sorry.
