At risk of being redundant, I can speak to the CEA situation with some experience. My CP currently cheers at the Sanford gym. We absolutely love it. Close to home, price is right, competitions are mostly local, my kid can cheer with girls from her school, etc. For most parents, that is just fine.

But. My kid is 9. Just got herself some level 5 skills. As wonderful as Sanford is, there is not going to be a place for a 9 year old level 5 athlete any time soon. As someone said earlier, it takes years to build a gym with that kind of teams. I'm appreciative that there is the option to drive her to Kernersville to get her "needs" met without having to change gyms. Though most of the Sanford parents put me at the top of the crazy cheer mom list for driving that far for cheerleading, many of the Kernersville moms do the same thing and "get" us. It boils down to different types of cheer customers. I happen to be both. LOL

So we get the best of both worlds. Top quality cheer instruction on a local level in Sanford, and the opportunity (Pope willing) to compete on a level 5 team that is also age appropriate.

Hey! I was there too! My little orange shrimp was not in your pic, bc she insisted on tumbling on the Worlds logo all afternoon (marking territory?).

Small world. LOL

It is a small world! We should wear fierce board stuff with our user names! My prince was the 6-1 guy in the black throwing punch through to full and my princess had on a dark purple tee throwing FWO through to full. Which was your shrimp???

Yes! FB shirts for all! Or at least a parent bow (I kid). Mine was the little red head giving Dalton fits over standing tucks. I wanna say she had on some obnoxious combo of pink zebra sports bra and rainbow cheetah soffes.

I think what a lot of people forget is CEA has had K-Ville and Raleigh for a very long time.
All the other locations are newer. Of course they're not going to have the same caliber right away, it has to build from the bottom.

But I don't understand why you wouldn't want all of your locations to be at the same caliber from the beginning. Maybe its because the program we are with is run differently, but why wouldn't you want all your teams from 1 to 5 to be winning teams.
So say a 9 year old does have level 5 skills but lives by one of the satellite gyms that can't provide a team for her and the parents don't want to drive to a farther location? Then where do they go? I am sure I could bring my cp to any of our satellite locations and know that there will be an amazing team for her... and not have to worry about going to the "better" location.

Haha, I always make sure everybody knows I don't drop either of my cp's off at practice, therefore I claim no ownership of what they could possibly be wearing to practice. The kids don't understand that real people don't dress like characters from the Disney Channel ;)

I swear she does it just to watch me bite my tongue.

I remember her! I say she should give Dalton fits since he gives them to everyone else ;) love his personality!

I feel like we are hijacking this thread but I want to answer the question.

I guess the point is it takes time to grow a program. CEA Sanford has been in existence for 3 years. They are growing at a steady rate and raising athletes steadily. It won't be long before they are able to put together a nice Sr 5 team. Until then, they are growing solid athletes in a solid program. Which is why my child, for example, will continue to call that gym home.

In response to your second paragraph, if your kid has skills and the gym doesn't have a team to fit, you have two options. Either wait and allow them to compete on a lower level team or find another gym that has a team you like better.

I don't think anyone at Cheer Extreme views the bigger locations as "better". Perhaps older and more established. In my experience, each of the smaller satellite gyms is headed in the same direction... just takes some time.

I understand what you're saying. But then again, your gym's satellite locations aren't set up like theirs. New locations usually have to be built up. From the bottom. Your locations are fairly established already.

My first thought:

True but the kids at the other locations aren't all brand new to cheer. I'm sure they were at another program before they came to CEA. I just wouldn't want my cp to have to settle for another level 5 team because they were closer to another location thats not Kernersville/Raleigh. But I guess people who feel that way would just go to another gym.

Is there that big of a difference between California (the state) and NC? It takes the right combination of talent/kids to come right out of the gate with the same caliber of teams that Kville (20 years) and Raleigh (9 years) has. Not everyone has that luxury unfortunately .

I guess your program is run much differently than our's are. Ray's has their way that works for them and is very successful. Cheer Athletic's has their way that works for them and is very successful. California Allstars has their way that works for them and is very successful. Why is it so hard to let us have our way that works for us and that we believe is very successful? Is that too much to ask?

Edited to add my CP did 5 years on YE. Believe me we never have any trouble fielding 36 on Youth 5. You either drive (willingly....again we have no problem fielding that team) or choose a Jr4 or Sr 4 team at your home gym.

In our poor rural area, most of them are brand new to cheer. Others were a part of the previous program which had a different level of coaching. There are a lot of variables. Which explains how a location in say, Charlotte, for example could more quickly grow than a different location.

Elaborating on this idea it's also a military area. So kids might be there for a few years and then move on. Joespeach moved to NC from another state not too many years ago.
