I'm looking to see what all star programs have strong Youth 5 & Junior 5 teams. I have an 11 year old that has a standing full, arabian thru to full or double, whip thru to full , working whip thru to double but hasn't had a team to compete on for a while. One of the top tumblers in my gym. Also is a level 5 flyer. Need to check out my options. Please help. Need to see options.

Where do you live?

Your location would probably help narrow things down, as there are several gyms with quality youth and junior 5 programs located throughout the country!

I'm sure with those skills they can walk right onto any J5, anywhere.

If I had to move anywhere in the country I'd be booking a flight to Dallas.

If you're interested in moving, I'd look farther ahead and just Y5 and J5. Moving is a major commitment. If it were me I'd want to ensure (even if the Y5 and J5 weren't as competitive now) that they're feeding into teams that my kids can finish their career on.

I moved my family from Illinois for cheer. I can tell you first hand we never regretted it. BUT, I didn't move for a Y5 or J5...I went to worlds and watched THOSE teams and asked myself where I could see my girls. We ended up at Twist & Shout in Oklahoma. Small, christian atmosphere, only one J5 and 1-2 senior 5 teams. But my girls have had so much success here. My oldest has won worlds once and NCA 3 times. My youngest has won NCA 4 times. So you basically have to ask yourself what kind of environment you are looking for.

Also, wondering how tall/thick your CP is?? If she's any bigger than 90 pounds she probably wouldn't be flying on a Youth 5 or Junior 5. Might want to find the type of gym that would put her on a senior team to fly from the get go. If she's not super flexible, she probably wouldn't be flying at all...Just something to think about.

Depending on where you are in Ohio.. I would say Matrix, Step One, or Buckeye Cheer Elite if you're near Columbus, American Elite if you're near Tallmadge/Akron, & Midwest Cheer Elite if you're near Cincinnati. Also, if you live near the OH/PA border, you could probably look at FCA and Pittsburgh Superstars as well.

Matrix has a youth 5 this season, as well as a junior 4 who were amazing last season. Step One usually fields a junior 5 team. Buckeye Cheer Elite had a successful small junior 5 last season. American Elite has had a junior 5 in the past seasons, as well as a SO5. Midwest Cheer Elite also had a junior coed 5 last year.

There are quite a few yth/jr/so5 teams in and around Ohio, just depends on where you are.

Wait, T&S youth and junior 5 fly 90lbs flyers?! That's incredible strength and technique! I'm less than 90lbs on an ioc6 team. The boys on my team need to man up. Or girl up as the case proves :)

No! lol Well first we've never had a Y5. Our J5 in the PAST has had big flyers. In 2012 at NCA our flyers were 90+ pounds. Thus the reason we couldn't hang that year! lol This past year all of our flyers but one were 60-75 pounds. I would imagine that trend will continue. lol I just used that as guesstimate on what size of a flyer COULD potentially still fly on a J5 team.

At 11 your CP is only 1/2 season(s) away from Worlds teams eligibility so I definitely agree with the above posts of looking for a programme where CP can progress onto strong Worlds team in the future. If she maintains and furthers all her skills she has a really good shot!
It could also depend on how competitive she is wanting to be on the Y5/J5 or if she wanted to have a strong team to further her skills, get used to the gym and make friends.
For example Cheer Extreme had a couple of very strong and talented J5's this season but (due to crossovers I assume) they did not attend many of the 'bigger' competitions (NCA for example) but many of those athletes will possibly progress onto teams such as Coed, Senior and Lady Elite in the future.
On the other hand (and no disrespect at all to ECE here!) they have incredible J5 and Y5 teams (one of the best J5 teams I have seen in a long time!) and they were very competitive but their senior teams (whilst still amazingly talented) have not been as successful and competitive as gyms such as Cali and CEA (and this is only in terms of winning major championships; of course not the only reason to select a gym!)
I would say to look into the future for teams since CP is almost age eligible!
