Didn't take the time to read the whole thread BUT

Go see each gym, let them know your situation and your interest, take a tumbling class, etc. Every gym has a different feel and coaching style so it's best you find which one will make you happiest.

Plano East has IB and is only a couple miles from CA. There are another 4-5 small gyms within. 10 miles as well. Pro Spirit in McKinney is good and Express in Frisco has great lower level teams as well.

Haha i keep hearing about the metroplex and I can't wait to move already! We are moving to either Allen or Arlington. (My mom wants to visit the high schools first before making a final decision, but she's leaning more towards Allen.)

I live in Allen. You'll love it here, if thats where you guys settle on. The school cheer program here is great too since most people do both.

I'm curious how many girls tryout for Varsity at the Allen and Plano schools since they have such large enrollment numbers. My oldest CP's school has approximately 2100 students and 34 girls tried out for the Varsity squad. Only juniors and seniors are eligible for Varsity.

My school is considered DII at UCA Nationals, under 1200 girls I believe, and we had 70 show up for tryouts. 30 on varsity with 2 alternates and 35 on JV with multiple alternates.

So they try to put everyone on a team ?

Yes. Last year we had to cut a few girls. Typically everbody makes a "game" team so that they can be a part of it. For example, this year we had a girl tryout who had never cheered before and she is JV game only. If we have girls who have little experience but show potential they usually make JV as an alternate. Usually cuts are only made when absolutely necessary !

The Allen cheer program has a total of 83 members which includes Freshman,JV, Varsity, 4 Blue Crew, 4 Mascots. I'm not exactly sure about the number of girls that tried out for JV and Varsity at Allen but it think its was around 50 or so that tried out for Varsity. For JV there were maybe 25 girls...yeah pretty low number. We had over 80 girls try out for Freshman. Of course not everybody makes the team. If you try out for Varsity next year the competition won't be as tuff as it will be for the JV team, only because a lot of the JV team are not apart of competitive or didn't start cheer as early as we( 2013-2014 Freshman team) did. If you do make it you'll love it! After our spring practices we are already one big family. Not to mention the the feeling you get cheering in a huge a sold out stadium on Friday nights. The energy is through the roof!
