Ok... I have read this and of course, I have my opinions. ;) First of all.. Since when do when as parents have a say in our comp schedule or even know what it is until it comes out so that discussion is irrelevant! 2nd, since when do athletes know what comps we are attending? They don't so why would they be told about this! This obviously is an independent event with teams from all girl and coed from some of the most successful programs in the country! I mean, come on people.. It's not that hard! And debating on who should and shouldn't be invited?... Well, it seems to me that this is spot on so far!
I personally have no clue all the details and don't really care! I think it's an awesome concept and am excited for all those involved! And saying that this is a "lite Majors".. Are you kidding me? Look at the line up!! We love the Majors! We love NCA! We love Worlds! Why is it not ok to have something else amazing? It's so annoying to me to see people debating on something that they 1-have no dog in the fight and 2-love to hate on those that don't play on their same field. I support all those involved, whether we are there or not .. and hope this is very successful! I think we need to take a step back and look at the big picture. IMO :)

I think that's across the board. I think the hush hush is what is making this so fun. I called some friends and nobody on the parent side knows from what I can tell. Granted I don't know but 4 teams and of those 4 only a handful of parents. So as a parent, be honest 12 step, are you excited? I know I would be.

Have to ask, have they ever or thought about a competition at Jerryworld? Or would the rent be too outrageous? That is the most amazing facility I have ever seen.

100% yes yes yes. As a coach and director, our parents and athletes don't know our competition schedule until we release it. So I don't get why everyone is in an uproar over that issue.

I mean, I can see the concern for parents in adding another major trip competition a few weeks before worlds after an already full schedule, without taking into account whether these teams have a paid bid for worlds yet. Particularly as it seems that west coast teams get the short end when it comes to major nationals. Yes, typically parents don't know the schedule til its released, but most people on here could guess schedules by gym purely from previous years. I would hope finances are taken into consideration when planning this type of thing. I imagine its a delicate balance between seeking true competition (particularly for large teams) and not pricing out your families.

I am with you. Since we don't know the people behind it, I am gonna go out on a limb and say that this is a paid trip kinda thing. If as suggested earlier, it's the 6 who offered for USASF, it might be a way of showing they can do it. Who knows at this point. If marketed correctly this could be huge financially without the teams paying anything.

I have to admit that after reading @BlueCat response in the CA thread I'm a tad bit less enthusiastic. Not just because my kid is definitely not involved, but because it had a bit of an ominous tone to it. From previous "conversations" it seems that he is a strong proponent of disempowering Varsity's stronghold on the sport and it seems that CA would jump at the opportunity to support an effort to do so. Hopefully they are just being cautious and their reluctance to participate is not indicative of any real problems with the sponsors. I would personally love to see something like this take off.

I caught that too. I honestly feel that he will decide to do the right thing for the industry. Blue cat, I hate using that name, is one of the most honest caring industry leader we have. Does CA have a team on it?
