Who I could see joining in the last 8 spots:
Cali Smoed
Cali Black Ops
Fame Super Seniors
CEA Senior Elite
T & S
Rays Steel
UA Prodigy

And one more... Possibly another Twisters team? Reign? I dunno. These are total guesses.

I'd personally be in heaven if Spirit Central Bengals qualified. I'm pretty sure their owner is pretty involved in this type of stuff so I wouldn't be completely surprised..

I was thinking of them after I saw your post about other AG teams. I don't know if they have enough national success though.

We do that one. They're fun for the athletes. They walk down a red carpet from the front of the stage with security. There is a leaders lounge that's like a mini dance club with DJ and couch. High score gets to hang out there until their score is beat. They're usually small cosmos but very fun.

Not quite the same, but at NCA College Nationals, they used to announce scores on Finals day like in prelims and there was an area to the left of the stage nicknamed kiss or cry where you would wait until someone beat you. Which usually wasn't too long since it's in reverse order of standings on finals day.

So if there are just 24 teams competing multiple times what is the business side of it?

That isn't a very large competition.

Ticket Sales? They're certainly not going to get much (or any) money from comp fees. Maybe they're hoping to bring in spectators.

so im still confused, is it 24 teams or 24 programs, cause when they announced peaches/orange and SSX/coed elite that diagram didnt change.

I'm going to assume they'll make this a big production (much like the Majors) and will sell tickets. Ticket sales will be split between all the programs to offset the costs of travel, and they are probably hoping this will turn a profit for each gym. This would make it more enticing for gym owners to add next year, instead of paying an EP an outrageous amount of money to compete. If you can have a high level, fun competition and MAKE money instead of spending it, why wouldn't you? Even if you break even it's a win-win.

This could be big for our industry. If gym owners started to work together to produce their own competitions, it would change the game. I would gladly join in and compete against local teams, even if it simply meant less competition fees. I'm sick of paying $75+ for a one day competition. If you give me the chance to make money off it, even better.

Let's say there will be 500 competitors at this competition. If each brings one parent, there are 500 tickets sold. If my parent didn't pay a competition cost, I'm sure they'd be willing to spend $20 to get in instead, because you are still saving a ton. So you have 500 parents that will pay $20. That's $10,000 and will probably cover all the competition costs. Let's say 2,000 cheer FANS show up... Which to me is not out of the question. Going to Philly to see all these teams is much cheaper than worlds, plus local gyms that will bring groups. There is $40k; divided by 24 teams is $1,666 a team. So instead of paying that to attend a competition, I'm making it. Here are a few extra mats in the gym because we are making money and not spending it. Hello-this is what gym owners have been asking for all along!

I agree, though I think this needs to be more than an event where every team competes just once a la majors. If it's going to be it's own standalone event, I'm not sure that 24 single performances will make it worthwhile for a spectator. Maybe a two day, or some other unique format, but you need to be able to make a weekend, or at least a full day out of it.

I agree, but I don't think it's a make or break. Majors only has 9 teams compete once (and they draggggg that out forever). As far as worlds, how many of those teams are teams I actually want to watch? Maybe about 12... I want to see the top teams, not the 50 teams between them. That's why LAG is so fun-it's back to back excitement. This has the potential to do that too. I don't think it would be like a normal competition that rushes through the day, but seeing 24 solid level 5 teams in a day is pretty worth it to me.

While I agree, let me play
devils advocate here:
Who is covering the travel/hotel cost for the athletes? Because $1,666 will cover, at best, 2 athletes from a West Coast gym.

Who covers those costs anyways? A gym doesn't pay that. If anything, it's still cheaper for the parent because you are taking out the competition fee. You have to travel to get any competition when you are a major worlds program that wants to actually compete against like gyms, so this is another travel competition where you will actually get a score against teams in your division for worlds. By April, teams that are going to worlds on a paid are already paid. That's not the concern. The concern is preparing them for worlds, and seeing where they rank going in. You have time to make changes if needed, and you see where you stack up.

Oh, I totally get that. I'm speaking purely as a parent here... As we have seen other parents post, we, as a group, are starting to feel that this industry looks at us as bottomless check books. We do this because we love and support our kids passions, but the finances are definitely starting to force families out of something they love.
For many parents, the month of April is all about scraping together the $ for Worlds. We look at NCA as the expensive comp pre worlds that gives our kids the view of where they stand relative to other teams pre Worlds.
I have never said I don't support this new competition, I just worry that so close to Worlds it is going to be a financial struggle for some teams traveling further and for what? Hopefully that will be spelled out in weeks to come.

Who normally pays for the cheerleaders to go to other competitions? Competitions do not pay teams to go out

Worlds does. Summit does. Via the Paid bids teams can earn. I totally get that competitions are typically paid for my athletes/families. I was just commenting based upon the fact that this was being viewed as a possible event that would funnel some $ back to the gyms.

But here is the thing: Worlds, Majors, CHEERSPORT, and NCA have built in ways to make more money. All the lower level teams and not teams not as strong in the division pay to go watch the events. We are assuming people have a lot more money to go travel to ao competition alongside Worlds / NCA / Majors / Cheersport.
