The requirements, other than accepting the invite, are whatever the decision makers want it to be. We're not all going to agree on all the choices, but that's just the way it works. So far, every team picked is a team that I would watch at worlds. There really doesn't need to be a rhyme or reason behind one team getting in over another. We don't know who has turned down the invitation, so it's hard to argue why certain teams may or may not be on the list. I view the attendees as teams who have been at the top, and those who are nipping at their heels.
No, I get it. But just the fact that there IS disagreement over the choices means that there is no real requirement to get invited other than being a fan favorite. I agree that I would probably watch all of these teams at Worlds because they're all great, but some of these teams didn't even place in the top five or even make finals.
I like cut and dry, haha.
