One thing we would have to do is "reboot" parents and athletes expectations of the venue. Stages, fancy lighting, free giveaways all cost money. Put emphasis on the quality of teams, competition, judging, etc. Start small and go from there. Rebuild it the right way.

I'm not saying don't still go to big EP's but regional season is easily done and expectations are already low.

Seriously again, until they tell us what the parameters are, I don't really see the point in speculating. For all we know all of the teams are gonna line up stunt groups and do a lib-off....

YES. I seriously think this is where we are headed, especially with EPs raising costs and decreasing the value of the competitions. Ok, back on topic. I just want to be able to look and back and remember that I called this. If gym owners around me actually talked to each other, I would totally make this happen.

It's not hard to host a quality event. Might not have the lights and flash some big ones might have but get good judges, make a schedule and keep too it. TALK amongst gym owners! This needs to happen more!

I agree with both of these statements 100% I am totally looking forward to seeing the whole layout of the CL, but part of me keeps thinking "Hey, what about us little fishes?" I don't mean my team should be invited, we don't have a level 5. What I do mean is that it would be awesome to do something with other gym owners for the sake of competition and saving people money if that is what the CL is out there to do. I don't know about your area @CoachTamara, but by me, gym owners don't talk too much, it seems like most are too busy plotting how they can put each other out of business or swipe their kids.

The current system is a mish mash of different companies that has no real congruence. Slowly rules are getting together but in all honesty cheerleading resembles a loose menagerie of Germanic tribes than, say, the United States.

If you could reboot and do it all over having a bunch of one day regionals and actual qualifications to go to nationals. It would be great if you had a small set of requirements (team competing must have no legality deductions, meet a minimum score and have less than a certain amount of deductions). Then if you qualify at at least one regional you are allowed to go to nationals. Have Regional Season be Oct-Dec, and Nationals be Jan-March. April is Worlds month.

The other thing is that in holding a competition someone has to be held responsible for certain parts. Who is in charge of insurance if someone gets hurt? Who is in charge of ensuring there is fair judging and everyone plays by the rules?

This is what I have found a lot of people have an issue with. Conversations between my "muggle" friends and me go something like this:
Me: Sorry, I can't go to X, I've got Nationals that weekend
Muggle: Oh, cool, when did you qualify for that?
Me: Well, erm, we actually didn't have to
Muggle:  So how is it Nationals then?

Seems like your "big name" team parents would be the easiest sell for a reboot. They've been around long enough to be over all the smoke and mirrors, and have a desire to spend money on real competition.

I would assume once there's success within that consumer group, it would trickle down and eventually (hopefully) become the norm.

I have not read all the pages of this thread but I just have to say I feel like Christmas came a bit early for me! Every one one of these teams would be the ones I'd seek out to watch at Worlds or NCA etc... This will be the first time ever that I can see all these teams without stepping on a plane! Living in NJ you just plan the expense of a plane ticket for a major comp, so glad the west coast and south are coming to us for a change! I love Disney more than life but don't like my cheer and disney time to conflict with one another. I am long out of the all star scene but my college daughter in Delaware and myself will be in Philly that weekend for sure! so excited!!! :)
