Since I canceled our vaca this year, we are adding a few days to our trip to Plano for SuperCAmp. We will are arriving late on the 20th and plan on watching LadyKatz practice on Sun. We still have the following Thurs and Fri open.

Many people have suggested the Dallas Aquarium and we will probably do that. Can you suggest anything else (preferably in Plano) that is fairly in-expensive that a 15yo girl and her old momma can do?? Also, are there any "must go to" restaurants in Plano??

Thanks for your input!

I live in Rowlett, go to school in Plano, and there's alot of restaurants in plano off on the highway, I know six flags and the dallas zoo aren't too far. There's hard rock cafe and things like that in Downtown Dallas in the West End. Hope I was of help!

I know I didn't post the thread but thanks! I'm going to the superCAmp as well :)

Yes Thank you UE!! I need to take CP to Hard Rock, she's never been. I want to go to the zoo, but I don't think I can handle it with the July heat.

Twisted Root Burger Co. is fun & they have a location up at The Shops at Legacy in Plano. They make their own root beer among other things. Good Shopping, food, and the Angelika movie theater as well (it's pretty much the only theater in Dallas that shows indie/specialty film festival films).

Close to CA and cheap:Firewheel mall is in garland, just off the toll road. It's an outdoor mall with a nice theater. If you go there, you should go by the old CA gym. It's on the same road as the mall and good to see where they came from! It's 15-20 minutes away from the new gym.
The Renaissance hotel in Richardson is 5 minutes away and close to Twisted Root on Campbell (since it was also mentioned above I assume its good food). The hotel has fountains outside that shoot up in a pattern. Lots of locals head there in the evening to play in the fountains. And it's free.
Not close and not as cheap but where we take out of town visitors: tours of the Ballpark in Arlington (Texas Rangers) and Cowboys Stadium. Full day and Great tours!

Yes, Firewheel is pretty awesome! I'm currently visiting my brother in Wiley and I've probably been in that shopping center like 10 times since I've been here. There's a lot to do there and there's an In-n-Out burger which is always a plus. I've also heard that Allen Outlets are pretty nice as well, but I haven't been there.

Yeaahh....that's the downfall to Texas summers' 100+ days here. Yesterday it was 105

Best shopping can be found at Northpark Mall. Great restaurants, a theater, and all the high-end stores that are fun to browse in. (They have the regular stuff too). It's the largest Dallas mall.

Galleria is pretty awesome too.. Also @cheysmomager there's an outlet mall in Allen, about 20-30 minutes from CA, Nike, coach, addidas, charlotte russe, michael kors and alot of other outlet stores! :)

We live in Plano just a short drive from the Shops at Legacy. My daughter and I enjoy wandering around there when we are bored. Lifetime Plano residents probably find it hokey but we also like going to Love & War in Texas for dinner, when they have live music in the outdoor patio. Depending on who is performing, we have had some rowdy-fun times there!

That's my middle name! :) I've never heard of it used anywhere else!

Do you know the address? If not, I can get it from one of the coaches at practice.

Had to go find an old bill with the address on it - my car just drove there without looking at the address! 1718 N First street, Garland, 75040. I'll upload a picture when I'm on my computer. It's a design company or something, but it's fun to see - part of your history now. We still go by there every once in awhile when she's feeling nostalgic!

Thank you Dixie!!

I think this is going to be a 'cheercation'. CP loved to see other gyms. I've emailed SOT to see if we can see them and got a very pleasant response. So we will visit them. Are there another gyms in close vicinity?
