So I am going to be a freshman in college this upcoming year. My parents recently asked me if I would want an iPad as my graduation gift. My mom thinks it would be easier to carry around than a laptop and maybe there would be online textbook options I could buy on the iPad. So my question for you all is, would an iPad actually be useful to me in college? I have a MacbookPro that is 2 years old and an iPhone 5. Normally I would jump at the chance for an iPad, but with going to college I'm just not sure how much practical/educational use I would get out of an iPad? Let me know what you think!

I have an iPad and I use it for a lot of things! If your school uses blackboard there is an app and I often pull up a lot of my assignments and homework as reference on my iPad then actually complete it on my computer. I wouldn't rely on e-books on an iPad but I've used it in some cases when I had the physical book and then gotten an online code and I've enjoyed it.

If you don't get an iPad what would you get?
I think a new laptop would be more useful than an iPad for college. We're getting iPads at school this year to use instead of textbooks, and we've had them in the classroom to use. I found they're fine for taking in information, but not very helpful in producing projects and papers and such. I much prefer to do everything on my laptop, that way I don't have to transfer info between them. But I'm in HS so that's just my opinion. They're really good for using as textbooks they're just not the same as computers. But they'd definitely be easy to carry around and much easier than textbooks, but you'd still need your laptop for papers and such. I think an iPad would be really nice to have in college as you can take it everywhere and it doesn't have to be just for schoolwork but if it was that or a new laptop id get a laptop.

Saw this pic on tumblr. Do the fame unis zip up the side? I can't tell if it's unzipped or ripped. Kind of looks like it could zip to me?

Is your MacBook still in good shape? I've been using my iPad for 3 semesters now and absolutely love it. I use it to take all my notes in class and there is an app for everything you could possibly need for school. I still type papers on my laptop, but use my iPad for everything else. If you get a keyboard case for it and your laptop is in good enough shape to last a few more years, I'd highly recommend it.

My new favorite thing to do:
Go to the Fierce Wiki
Go to 2012-2013 season
go the the videos tab
Scroll REALLY fast up and down and stuff
Randomly click on a link.

It's a really great way to watch new teams in ANY division! So fun to do!!!

I say, yes, you'll love it. My NonCP didn't want an iphone 5, wanted something that she wanted, loves it. Didn't want an ipad, wanted something that she wanted, loves it. She is 17. (sniff, sniff, sniff, not ready for senior year HS)

There is an app called Notability. It was either free or .99. It is amazing. You can synch large documents and things from your computer through Dropbox. Write on the document in Notability and it all stays right there. You can type into the document or "red ink" mark it up. You can take photos of something and include in on the pages. You just need to find useful apps.

We had a team sleepover last night. The minute lights go out... A bug lands on me. Of course I screamed. Then someone yells "Turn on the lights." My coach yells, "I'm not turning on the lights." So everyone freaked out. Plus we heard noises all night and supposedly "the building is haunted."

I will keep this in mind as I'm brining my laptop and iPad to college in a few weeks! Thanks for sharing :)
