All-Star Is It True Cheer Command Is Closing?

UA sure seems to like to be the ones to grant "asylum" to these teams! I've never seen this anywhere but Illinois, where whole teams leave a gym together and go somewhere else. I have to say I don't understand why these teams don't have to try out at the new gym - they just show up, en masse, and say "we're here and we're a level 5 team"? Not that the teams I've seen do this aren't good, I just think if you change gyms, you try out again. Period.

It's gotten to where "UA South" means "We left our other program after the season started". It'd be one thing if they actually had a location in the south, but since they don't I just don't get it. Why not go to one of the millions of gyms that are already there? Or, if you're that stuck on being ua, drive there like everyone else.

(And don't get all bent at me because I said something about ua. I love their program, this is just the ONE thing they do that I don't love)

Wow, my daughter is at UA and I always find out what is going on with UA from these boards. How does everyone
find out all this stuff before we do?

I don't know if anyone even know the facts yet to assume who/what/why/where/when. There is so much gossip in the Illinois cheer circle that I learned to stop believing anything I heard until I heard it from one of the owners from either gym - or Jac. I have to believe her. I'm a mom. ;)

I can't speak for @Alexx but I would be sad if the original post were true. Cheer Command, Allstar Athletics, ICE-ICC-ICE have all been established for years. UA came on board slightly after these programs, but these 4 gyms have been the programs that drove Illinois out into the Great Cheer World in a larger way. First to step out of the state and take on the major competitions - Jamfest Nationals (before it became SuperNationals)/Cheersport/NCA, first to take teams to Worlds. To lose any one of those gyms is to lose a part of our history. I think many of us have friends in most, if not all of these programs.

If you are from another Illinois gym, don't jump on me for not including you in this group, please. I do not mean this to be offensive, just factual. Over the years (since we got involved in 1993) other gyms have come on board, been strong and continue to be strong. Some have left. This is history.

Yes I can see why that would be sad and thank you for the explanation...my confusion I guess is more about whether any of this is factual. I wish we wouldn't be so quick to post something like this, truth or not damage is done by a question like this. I understand the curiosity, I am the most curious person who always wants to know everything but now people who belong to a gym or were thinking of joining are also questioning. I don't know maybe that is a good thing or maybe it is just another nail in the coffin.

When we get to this point of a thread I like to summarize to avoid some of the bouncing back and forth:

- Question asked: Is CheerCommand closing? Answer: No it is not
- Some rumors people have heard: the owners split ways, Generals have gone to UA, possibly along with their coach
- Illinois has a proud cheer tradition
- @CheerKatie08 did a drive-by post

Did I miss anything?

Yeah. The Illinois cheer scene will only ever make sense to someone who is, was or will be a member of a cheer family from Illinois.

Just because it's not posted on fierceboard doesn't mean it's not coming from reliable sources. It doesn't make it the gospel truth either, but there are people "in the know" about things that don't post it on fb. I don't post or comment on things on here unless I've at least somewhat heard it from a source I would trust. But no one believed Famous was closing either - because the owners said no...

That being said, I have no idea if cc is closing or just losing their "premier" team. I would be sad if they did close for the same reasons already posted. They're definitely one of the gyms putting Illinois on the map. And I've always known them to stay out of the gossip/drama part of Illinois cheer, so I'd hate to see them gone. Hopefully they can work out what's going on.

Ok. The two owners from CC are splitting up. That is happening for sure. The reason the team is going to UA is because they were only one that would keep team together as group. Third all these girls were fine with working out to make a level 5 team. I can't say much after that but thanks to UA for taking these kids who would lose season completely if they stayed at CC. There were no other level 5 options for them to stay in area. There Will be many more things coming out soon that will show how bad the situation is at cheer command soon. This is directly from someone at CC. Don't judge these kids unless you know what steps have led to this. You will see shortly they had no choice.

These kids did not want to leave Cheer Command and gave the owners the chance to come to a solution on the money problems at CC, but that didn't happen and once the season starts it would have been to late. This is directly from someone on generals she is my cousin. For all the rumors of them closing they are very real and people with a great reputation on here can confirm.

These kids lost their coach who was one of owners with no explanation, have sat in meetings with the other owner in which they asked her to prove the financial problems were taken care of, and they were told there would be a resolution which their wasn't so they moved on. They did not want to risk having to tryout mid season for another worlds team mid season when the gym financial issues would come to a head, and all the other teams were filled. This problem has been going on for over a year, and the kids and families were told after tryouts that this was not resolved. If they would have known upfront they never would have gone back. Do we all think that is wrong for the kids to do. This was copied and pasted directly from a general parent#####
