The cheer world is always evolving, whether it is for better or for worse. What trends are dying out in the allstar world and how do you feel about the trend dying out?

Some of my ideas:

Trend dying: animal print
How I feel: So happy. There are very rare instances where animal print looks nice (i.e. CA Cheetahs half top uniform) it usually looks tacky so I'm glad it is bidding us a farewell.

Trend dying: Clean fulls on level 5 (rather than doing ugly double fulls)
How I feel: upset. I feel that coaches should implement more skills that look good and are consistent rather than doing something that is harder and looks bad and is unlikely to hit.

Tell me what you think!

Ill clarify to say this basically is dead already, but the "cheer" in Cheerleading. When we started eight years ago every team had a club cheer that showed up in some part of the routine, then it started getting voiced over during a skill section....now it's just gone.

We only just moved to CEA but I think about newbie cheerleaders that may read "cheer extreme, the best ever. Teal black and white now and forever" and have never heard a crowd shout that during the routine.

That happened with nearly every gym at this point.

I was going to post this. When I started AS cheer section was very elaborate. But now if I ask any of the girls I go to school with and just started All Stars, they'd probably think that I did rec cheer lol.

I miss these :( It was amazing hearing everyone in the arena shout the cheer during the routine. I think Brandon still does it?

Elaborate make up is dying out. Now it seems most gyms are going in the more natural direction, which is a good thing IMO.

Inventive hair styles I think the 'poof and pony' look is so in, to the extent that every girl looks the same. Five years ago I was at a comp with french braids leading to the bow, flat hair but for the pony and bow etc. It makes me sad :( Also traditional co-ed stunts, one boy and one girl. They're being tossed out of the window in order to incorporate harder skills where you need more than one base. I understand it, but I'm gutted all the same.

@cheer2win and I go all the way back to when all stars had traditional & all music divisions. We never liked the stop and do a cheer part but when ACE got rid of the cheer at all was when she really checked out.

She sure did........I admit I also miss screaming the cheer in the parent section with 1000's of people you don't know. (Red, black, gold and white..........The Pride of Alabama......Go Tribe........ACE)

On the "cheer extreme, the best ever. Teal, black, and white now and forever", didn't almost every team have that in their music at some point? I was talking with a friend who cheers at one of the CEA gyms and she pointed that out. So that's a "dying CEA trend"

Eta: whoops missed the last part of the last sentence in first paragraph. Carry on.

Year's ago there was a part of the music that wouldn't have words and being at practice you just learned where the cheer went in the routine and each team's parents would start the cheer in the right the spot with the crowd joining in at the end of the chant..........then we had the words in the music........around 2011 is when I noticed the non existent cheer anymore. Maybe 2010 or 2011?

spirit explosion still has their cheer in the music.... the name you know the best yes it's true and explosion of spirit in red white and blue! the whole gym cheers over this part it is awesome! I really liked the cheers in the music as voice overs, but my gym now doesn't even have a cheer because they have become so removed from all star.

So does that make me old that I was in all-star for at least 2 years of having to stop the music to do a cheer section? My third year we picked the all music division for everyone but I distinctly remember having 2 years where we stopped and did a cheer section. When did I get so old...

Yes it does because we did it for a few years as well

:)

This is so right. Or there would be a section that was just the back music of a song without words, and we all just knew that was where cheer would go. I also noticed my last few years at CEA, the words to the cheer changed around between ,"We are Extreme Allstars, the best ever..." To "Cheer Extreme, the best ever...".
At my new gym we've had a cheer in our routine for my last three years, but they didn't choreograph it into our routine this year, so I think we might not have one...but we don't have our music yet so they might just put it into the music.
