I am looking into getting a new car and looked at the Nissan versa, Toyota corrolla, or Honda Civic... Any other great suggestions of a great car under or around 20 grand. Needing to create a pro and con list and know y'all would be great help!

Uh...I purchased a 2014 Kia Forte last month.. I like it.

I'm not really one to give much help in the car buying process. I can't even tell you how I picked the car I got...but I do like the warranty

I bought a Kia optima Hybrid and it was the best decision ever for driving 104 miles one way to practice. The funny thing....there are now 2 more in the parking lot. We should get some company kickback ;)

I've had the 2009 and now the 2013 Honda Civic and I absolutely love both. No complaints.

Oh and in my Forte I get like 35 miles per gallon....413miles per full tank or something....basically I fill up every week and a half if I stay in town.

I recommend Honda, Hyundai or Mercedes, since many of the models are made in Alabama!

I've never had a Kia, so I can't speak about them. I had a Toyota for years and it was a good car. No real complaints, but I probably would not buy another.

I've had a couple Hondas and I swear to God they make cars that live longer than people. My first Honda got to 260,000 miles with very minimal maintenance and almost no major expenses. It finally died in a flood, not from mechanical failure. I sometimes wonder how much farther I could have gotten it.

I had a Nissan Pathfinder, which I absolutely adored, but I don't know anything about the Versa - never even driven one.

I would vote for the Honda of the 3 you listed though. Aside from their unbelievable reliability, they're good on gas and have an amazing resale value. When you go to trade it in, it's likely you'll be able to without being thousands of dollars in the hole because you owe so much. Every Honda I've ever had I've been able to trade in for what I owed or better.

Right now we have a Volkswagen and it's awesome, but it's my sister's car so I know it wasn't around 20 grand. She's much fancier than I am.

Completely biased because my dad works for them but I absolutely love Fords. The sync dashboard technology that is in their new cars is absolutely amazing. I drive an Escape and love it, but if I were to get a smaller car I'd definitely go for a Focus. The new ones are reallllly nice

That's the car I'm looking at! I'll finally be a real adult in a year when I finally get a degree  and I'm thinking of rewarding myself with a new car. Ford Escape is number one on my list right now. It has everything I'm looking for and a lot of extras. I really like all the cars they're coming out with right now. Whoever they've hired to design their stuff better be getting PAID.

***My only issue is that I don't want to park it in the city because you can't have a nice car here (everyone here parks by touch - lots of dents) I'd go bananas if I had an Escape and anyone dented it. So I'm trying to wait until I have a parking space or a driveway. :banghead:

Mine is slightly older (I've had it 7 years), but I'm still totally in love with it. The new model looks like such a luxurious car! Like the shape of it reminds me of a high-end Lexus or something. It's very safe and they have so many different available features that it makes it so easy to find exactly what you're looking for in a car. Plus it's the perfect size IMO. My mom drives a new Explorer and it feels like I'm driving a tank or something. Way too big for me! I definitely wouldn't want to park in the city and buying a space in a garage is ridiculously expensive so I don't blame you at all for the hesitation!

I love my Hyundai but all of those cars are good. They will go forever. I drove a Nissan Versa for a little as a rental and I liked it a lot. I had a Toyota before this Hyundai and it treated me very well so I would say go for the Toyota. Very dependable cars.
